Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Tell me if this is a good idea for a party activity for my vintage party.

Ok so I am not sure if you have seen the movie "Sense and Sensibility". Remember the scene where they are drawing each others silhouette by candlelight? I was thinking about doing that for the guests at the party? Of course I would probably use a different light source other than a candle. My DH can get a hold of a projector. The only thing I am worried about or may think it isn't a good idea is that I am not sure the kids will be able to sit long enough to finish it? Most of them will be 2 yrs old. I remember when I was in elementary school doing something like this. I don't know what grade though. Obviously I was older than 2. If it works then it would be a fun little thing to take home from the party with the other favors.

My theme is a vintage tea party but tying in the transcribing of the "lovely years" or "wonder years" with a video montage and a photographer there etc.

  • i don't want you to be disappointed if it doesn't work. i don't have a 2 yr old, so i don't know their attention span to sit still, but i'm guessing it's not very long. it's a great idea in theory, but not sure if it will be practical for your 'target audience'.

how are the other details coming along for you?

  • I think it's a neat idea but I agree, young kids may not have the patience for it.

I've seen people make a backdrop with vintage-y fabric and have some vintage accessories for the guests to put on and take pictures of themselves.  Almost like a photo booth I suppose.

    That's a really cute idea!

I am glad you are here! I wanted to see if you were on!

I agree with what you wrote actually. I am trying not to get excited about the idea because it sounds like it would work for older kids.

So I am pretty much decided on the tea party. I am going to plan for an indoor party and if the weather is good then I will do it outdoors. That way I won't be disappointed. So far I have got the photographer booked, ordered the birthday sign from Etsy and tonight I hope to (cross my fingers order the invites). That's all.

::sigh:: I just want ti to be perfect.

I have lots of stuff to do still. I just recently decided what theme I want to go with.

Here is the banner I went with! I got a pretty good price! I think it would have worked with either theme...my red and white vintage toy party or my vintage tea party!

I love it even though it's pretty simple.

I love this banner! It looks perfect for your theme, which I also love :) We are doing a radio flyer/vintage toy theme for ds.
  • sorry, been shopping online for ds' b-day party! so much fun!

love the banner, btw. it's great! do you have an old piece of furniture you could bring outside to put the desserts on?

did you want general ideas or for specific things?

i would go to a flea market and buy a bunch of mismatched tea cups/plates (sets, but all different).

Boo....I don't really have an old piece of furniture. I was going to rent some tables and tablecloths ....some laces tablecloths and or sew some using floral material..and use lace doilies.

how about someone you know? or ask a consignment shop to 'rent'? or check for vintage rentals in your area. you can get an old typewriter (big at vintage weddings right now) and have guests type a message to dd. use old luggage to set things on (stack a few small pieces), vintage is huge right now. check out some of the design blogs.

    mason jars....!!

i saw a doilie luminarie...let me try to find it again. although, if your party is in the day, that's kind of pointless.

wrap cans from vegetables, beans, etc. in doilies and either put crayons in it, food, or flowers.

i gotta run. dh just got home from work, but i'll help you some more. email me on fb.
