2nd Trimester

XP: Super light spotting, should I be concerned?

I've had some super light spotting today. Really faint pink/brown. No cramping. Kind of freaking out a little. My husband offered to take me to the ER, but it doesn't seem bad enough for that. Anyone have experience with this during the second tri?

  • Put a call in to your doc before you go to the ER...it could be anything, like if you had sexy time last night!

  • No sex last night. I so wish we had because then I would be able to brush it off as that.

     This exactly!

  • I wouldn't worry (easier said than done). I spotted during my 1st pregnancy and it was nothing. I was told as long as it wasn't bright red bleeding (more than 2 tbs or enough to fill a pad) with cramping then it is ok. Brown blood is old blood. It could be anything from baby moving, stretching, to possibly is this the time you would normally have gotten your period? It never hurts to call the dr. but I probably wouldn't go to the ER.

  • I would put a call in to the doctor.  I had this around 14 weeks also except it was l it a glob of brown.  Dr. said that my cervix was very sensitive and if I had sex or a difficult bowel movement in the past week I could have bleed and it was old blood working it's way out.  It really freaked me out though.
  • I spotted the whole entire pregnancy with my first and they never came up with a reason. I'm now 14 weeks pregnant with my second and spotted for a whole month. Everything is okay. Always told not to worry unless it's a lot and/or cramping involved.
  • I had spotting really early in my pregnancy, and it just started again a few days ago. I was told it's often due to the ammount of new blood vessels being created to support baby's growth, which easily break with sex, strain, even a lot of coughing can do it. Like mentioned above, even if it's bright, as long as it is less than 2 tbsps and without cramps it should be just fine! Good luck!
  • I didn't have spotting until a few days ago. Hubby and I had sex. I woke up the next morning and had bright red spotting. I freaked out and went to the ER since I have miscarried before. The spotting was due to a bladder infection. Baby is fine though.

Still scared the crap out of me!
