What can I give LO for constipation?

Poor DD2 is struggling so hard to poop, that she cries. I feel so bad for her. I tried watered down juice but all I had was V8 fusion and that didn't work. I plan on picking up some apple juice and trying that. I also tried the thermometer trick and nothing. Anything else I can try???

  • I would try prunes, prune juice or apple juice. Poor thing, I hope she poops soon!

  • Pear juice or pear compote.  Pears make babies poop!

  • pear, apple, or prune juice. LOTS of water. Also, take vaseline and rub it on the outside of her rectum, it stimulates them to poop and makes it easier to come out.

  • pears always do the trick for us.

  • Pureed prunes work best for T if he's already starting to get a little backed up. Pears work best to keep him regular in the first place. We've started just mixing in a little pear with most of his fruit & veggie purees & not only does he love the sweetness but he hasn't been constipated since!
  • Also warm water & activity can help. So you could try prune or pear pur?e or juice, then a nice warm bath & then stand her up at an activity table. That has always worked for Tristan.
  • Pear juice worked well for us when it got really bad.  Now she eats a pear a day and we haven't had an issue since.  I think the blueberries help too, the girl loves her blueberries!

  • Slightly TMI ahead... Warning...

If you see my posts from last night you can read about the battle I am having with Isaiah's poop... Sadly if they are that constipated, nothing will work if the poop is hard already and ready to come out. I had to "help" Isaiah with my pinky and vaseline as the Dr showed me. It sucks but he needs the help. You can also stimulate it with a glob of vaseline and a Q-tip, just insert a little and the vaseline helps lubricate so it's not too painful... make sure you keep adding vaseline to her lil butt so she doest get small cuts like Isaiah :(

We also have to lower his dry food intake and focus more on juicy fruits and liquid diets like soups... I hope your LO feels better soon! I feel your pain! Good luck!

  • Teaspoon or two of karo syrup in a formula/bm bottle did the trick for Liam.
