Do these really work? DH and I are going out to eat tonight with 3 other couples and taking DD. We haven't taken her out to eat very much and not at all since she has been feeding herself. Should I pick some of these up and try them tonight? Or will it be a waste of money? I just don't know what to do about the eating off the table situation (just wipe it and go with it?).
Sorry if this seems silly to some of you ladies and I'm not a freak about germs or anything, just not sure what they use to wipe down tables in between customers!  ![]()
Re: Disposable placemats?
I'm kind of a germ freak. I've used the plastic disposable placemats and they used to work pretty well. We don't go out to eat as often as we used to - now when we use them, she just rips them off, especially if they're on a tablecloth of some sort. So I usually try it first, then if it's more of a hassle than it's worth, I rip it off, wipe down the table with an anti-bacterial wipe and just go with it.Honestly, it's easier to just use the table.

I loved them when they were younger but yes, mine tend to tear them off now & I haven't used them in a couple months. Instead, if I'm not sure of the situation, I stick a couple of the smaller sized paper plates in my diaper bag to put their food on. I genearlly wipe the table & will put dry things right on there, like cheerios or goldfish or puffs...(cuz they'll play w/ the paper plates too unless there is 'real' food on it). Giving them those types of snacks in very small portions to keep them occupied before the real food comes is pretty much our MO in decreasing crying, wiggling, etc...

Once B learned to rip up the suction cup mat we had, we just started wiping the table. I know SIL used the disposable ones for a while, but from what I saw they never worked very well. Not sure if it was the brand, the tables, or just her ability to stick them properly, but it seemed like a giant waste of money since they never actually did their job.
I would definitely at least wipe down the table yourself. Even if waitstaff did it between customers, those rags aren't changed out between tables. :x

We use these re-usable placemat we got at BRU and you wouldn't believe the waitstaff that have thanked us for using it! It has a food catcher that really helps there be less mess on the floor. We even use it under plates now.

I haven't used them, and I don't think I want to. I have some bowls that suction onto a surface, and will sometimes bring one of those with us.
This is great and would work perfect for DD. Thank you!!
