perinatal associates

I have my first appt with them in a week. I am excited to meet the drs. Anything special I should know about them or the practice? my first appt is at the office, then I guess the rest will be at the hospital.  Do they do USs in the office? I really want one to see the hb.

we are high risk because I have type 1 diabetes. this is our first baby :)

Re: perinatal associates

  • I saw Perinatal Associates at the Antenatal Testing Center at Inova Fairfax. If you're seeing them there, they do the u/s right at that office. If you're going to their other office on Hammaker Ct., I don't think they do u/s there.

My only advice is that if you see Dr. Bronsky, he can be really gruff and "worst-case-scenario." The other doctors are friendlier, but they are all good. Also, in my experience, they are very conservative and pro-bedrest, even for diabetics. I did a month of bedrest at Inova Fairfax with my twins, and had several roommates who were diabetics, and they were all put on bedrest.

  • Thanks, kafunder.

I remember you mentioning that before. I appreciate you telling Bronsky is a worst case thinker! I guess we will have to wait until later to see the baby since we go to hamaker for our 1st appt. :(

  • I saw them from 11 weeks through the end of my pregnancy. I had severe hyperemesis with a PICC line and a bad cervix. Dr. Bronsky was my favorite. Dr. Kurhy (can't remember spelling) was the most abrasive in my opinion upon first meeting him.. he grew on me over time. I was on modified bed rest from 11 weeks through the end of my pregnancy. First for the throwing up and not keeping anything in me, then for the cerclage which was put in at 14 weeks. I saw them from 16 weeks on every other week through 34 weeks for ultrasounds in their office. Overall, I loved them, they got my boy here and I know the conservative BR is what helped. I will be going back to them for baby #2!
December 2011- Trans-abdominal Cerclage placed. Praying this new baby sticks and does not require bed rest!

  • I just moved to Ashburn from South FL.  I had a PICC line with my son (now 18 months) from 7 weeks until 37 weeks at my planned c-section delivery in 2009.  I trusted my doctors in FL completely to bring Lucas into the world safely and am so nervous to find an OB/GYN that is experienced in aggressively treating women with hyperemesis.  Do you have a regular OB/GYN that you went to first and then were referred to the specialists or maybe I should call this practice first?

I really want to meet with a doctor before getting pregnant this time to discuss our plan ahead of time- before I am in a hospital bed and it is a life or death situation.

     Thanks for your help!

    Rebecca
