2nd Trimester

2+ moms, when did you start noticing brackston hicks contractions?

I was really surprised to notice a few in the last couple of days.  I've had several tonight and realized I hadn't had enough water today, so I'm catching up right now.

I'm a little freaked out by getting them so early. Anyone else?

  • I only made it to about 23 weeks last pregnancy, but last time they started around the 15th week (with twins), this time they started during my 13th week. I freaked out too, but my doctor (who is a high-risk specialist) kind of laughed and said it was perfectly normal.

You feel a weird tightening in your lower abdomen (or later in pregnancy, your whole stomach region) and if you poke at the area where your uterus should be, it's rock hard.

  • I think I started getting them around 16-17 weeks or so? At least that's when I noticed them. I got them last time but I think it was a little later.

  • I've gotten them at about 15 weeks with all 4 pregnancies. No worries. =) If I remember right, my OB during my last pregnancy mentioned that BH can get worse with each pregnancy.
  • With my first pregnancy, I didn't start having them until almost 30 weeks. This time, I'm already having them several times per day!

  • 16 weeks...and they were painful

I've never had painful ones. How do they feel different from labor contractions?

  • I got them around 18wks this time, and the last few days I have been having them too frequently for what my dr said is good... so I'm trying to lay down more (when I can) and I definitely need to up the amount of water I drink.
