  • I live nearby in Beverly Hills and I go to a group OBGYN called Women First in Royal Oak I'm also new to the area so I've only been going there for a few months (I'm 16 wks pregnant) and I like them a lot so far.. I am not sure exactly what you mean by a Christian OBGYN though? I don't know that any doctor I've ever had has disclosed their religious affiliation. I suppose you could call and ask but I'm not sure they would tell you.

    Good luck with your move!

  • I go to Generations OBGYN in Birmingham (right next to Troy) and really like them.  Like pp said...I'm not sure what you mean about finding a Christian dr...they never really told me what religion they practive.

If you are looking for a Ped recommendation once your LO arrives, we go to Child Health Associates in Troy and love them as well!  If you need daycare, DS goes to a Christian daycare in Royal Oak called Olive Branch.  GL!

  • I go to Somerset Ob/Gyn and I can't say enough good things about them!!!
  • I go to Michigan Women's Health Institute in Clawson.  It is right on the border of Troy and Clawson, cross the street and you are in Troy.  I am not sure about their religious affiliation, I think it depends on the doctor.

I also second Child Health Associates in Troy, they are wonderful!  If you are looking for daycare, Giggle Gang is affiliated with Life Christian Church.  Also the daycare at Zion Christian Church was very nice.

  • I also go to Women First in Royal Oak.  They are very nice and I have been going there for years.  My BFF delivered with them and had a great experience.

I agree with pp as far as Christianity goes.  I've never asked them for their religious affiliations so I can't comment on that.

Good luck with your move.  We live in Clawson which is just south of Troy and love it!

    I second MWHI.

Also, if you are looking for a pediatrician, I highly recommend Mali & Mali Pediatrics in Troy.  Their office is across from Troy Beaumont, but they see babies at both Troy and Royal Oak Beaumont hospitals.

  • I don't post much but I had to throw in my two cents. Dr. Green of Contemporary OBGYN In Rochester (right across from Crittenton hospital) is Catholic and practices within church teaching as well. He is my doctor and I absolutely LOVE him.

If you don't mind me asking, what does religion have to do with it? I understand the church has a strong stance on IVF, birth control and abortion, but aside from that is there anything else?

Not trying to be rude or offend anyone. I'm honestly intrigued.

  • For me it is for all of the reasons you mentioned. I will be honest and tell you that I do practice NFP as our only means of "birth control" so it is so much easier to go to a doctor who understand where you are coming from. One who gets why you do what you do and how important it is to you in terms of not just my physical well being but also my spiritual well being. I have been 'questioned' by other doctors who don't get my choices and have felt judged and looked down upon and I obviously don't go to them anymore. I'm not offended at all and I hope I didn't offend either as that was NOT my intention.

I am sorry that some doctors have given you a hard time about NFP. I know a lot of women on the board use that as their primary means of BC, as do I. My doctor will ask and just make sure that I'm aware NFP is not 100%, but I just shrug it off as him making sure that I'm not an idiot. I think doctors see lots of women who don't fully understand the different methods (i.e. that it's not impossible to get pregnant while breast feeding) and are just making sure. At least that has been my experience.  It's not really their place to question your motives, I am sorry that you felt looked down upon. That is definitely not cool.

Welcome to the board, and the area!

  • Thanks so much for all of the help!!! Our doctor where we live now goes to our church and it is just nice to know that not only is he looking out for the well-being of our baby, but he is genuinely interested in our lives (not that all doctors aren't!!)... We just like to know that the doctor we are seeing isn't going to question our thoughts on not doing genetic testing and that abortion isn't an option. It's not that we would only go to a Christian OBGYN, we aren't that picky or anything, we just have enjoyed our OBGYN here and knowing he goes to our church has been a bonus!!!!!

I hope I haven't offended anyone by asking for a Christian doctor, bc like I said, I am not opposed to not having one!!!! Thanks for your recommendations on OBGYN's, pediatricians and day cares!!! Everyone we have met has been so crazy nice!!!! My husband moves this weekend to start looking for a house and I will be moving up in a month or so. We are looking in the Troy/Royal Oak/Birmingham area!!!
