Bob Ironman vs. sport utility for runners?

tryiing to decide really between these two or the revolution.  It appears that for runners, the sport utility and the Ironman are the two that are the best because of the fixed wheel.  I am leaning more toward the sport utility only because we walk alot off road/trails too and wanted something with some substance to the tires...but...that being said, does the fixed wheel make it hard to walk off road/windy stuff?

Just looking for opinions on either really?

  • I run with the BOB revolution and it's very easy to push and maneuver.  I don't off road but it is very windy on the lakefront in Chicago and I've never had any problems with it.

Only issues I'd say would be it's large and bulky to put in the trunk of the car, not much space on the bottom and the seat isn't very padded.  But I bought mine back in '08 so I'm sure there are better models out there.  Also, it has a fixed or movable front wheel setting which is very nice, I don't see how anyone can maneuver with it on the fixed setting.

  • DH and I are avid runners, both on road and off.  I researched all 3 of these as well, and we decided on the BOB Revolution.  I found the SUS and the Ironman to be very difficult to maneuver during turning or any bump in the road.  That being said, many of my friends who strictly road train for long distance prefer the Ironman.  Once you lock the front wheel of the Rev, it's safe for running.  I just liked having the flexibility.

This. Revolution offers more flexibility since you can lock the front wheel or not, and you definitely don't want it locked if you're just walking.  I didn't want a permanently fixed wheel for this reason even though it was never my intent to use the Bob for more than running, but as it turns out, I use it almost as frequently as my UBV and it would be a pain in the arse to have to deal with the fixed wheel all the time.
