What are the accessories (lens, flash, editing software, etc.) you like having?
I'm supposed to be putting together a wishlist of things I'd like in preparation for my birthday and Christmas, and I always get frazzled when they get closer and can't think of what I'd want. So I'm going to do a wishlist in advance from now on and continually update it.
I have a nikon d80, fwiw.
Re: photography ladies
My fav lens, that I use almost all of the time, is my 50 mm f/1.4. (Canon though). Another good one would be a wider angle lens (Christie has one that looks great, but I don't recall which one it is.)
I also have the Speedlite 430 EXII (again for Canon) and love it. I think it was too much to learn when I was still learning my camera, but now that I have it it really saves my pictures indoors or in low light.
If you are interested in messing with studio pics of your kids, you could get a backdrop stand (Ryan made mine out of PVC, which would be easy for Jeff) and some backdrops (fleece works well or you can order seamless paper and it isn't very expensive).
On my "some day" list is a nice macro lens but I do not have a specific one in mind.
Thanks, Kathy - I think a speedlight is at the top of my list currently. I have a 50mm f/1.4 lens and that's what I use most of the time. I meant to include that. I also have another lens, but it's sucky and I think it might actually be broken.
I'll talk to Jeff about a backdrop stand, because I'd love that! Of course he has a list a mile long of furniture stuff we're starting to tackle, but I think that would be a quick project he could do easily.
I just bought Understanding Exposure for my kindle - I had it somewhere from before we moved in book form, but can't find it anywhere and it's been awhile since I read it and I'm finally getting back into wanting to learn my camera.
I love my backdrop stand! It was around $45 on Amazon, and I like how I can fold it up easily when not using it.
I also have the Tamron 28-75 mm and love it! It's on my camera about 90% of the time now.
