So...my mom went past her due date and ended up with 3 C-sections...
...my sister went past her due date and was induced with no dilation...
...just wondering if its going to go the same for me? I just lost my mucous plug today and found out that my mom and sister both did NOT lose their mucous plug before having their children. Is it looking better for me as far as going into labor naturally? I'm 39 wks and don't want to be induded or have a C-section!
Anyone out there have a completely different experience than their mother/sister?
Re: Genes/heredity influence your labor?
The other day we were talking about this and it seemed like many women had completely different experiences from their mothers and from pregnancy to pregnancy. It did however, seem like there was a correlation with *how* labor went. As in, if your mom had a small pelvis that influenced her labor and you have the same pelvis it will likely affect yours as well. I discussed this with my OB because my mother NEVER gave birth before her due date and I am really concerned about it. She said when your mother gave birth has nothing to do with when you will, but your bodies may be similar and thus birth babies the same way.
Fairly certain I just said the exact same thing two different ways...sorry about that!
My mom went into labor early with all of her pregnancies. I went into Labor 3 days late and he was born 4 days late via c-section due to failure to progress and decels SO I did not inherit my mom's awesome genes in the labor area:) (2nd baby zero progress so I opted for the c-section. 3rd baby-scheduled c-section.)
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!
