I get my invites from Shorty Red and print them out at Target as a 4x6 photo. $18 for the design plus 19 cents a print for the photos plus a box of envelopes from the store = 72 cents an invite. (I ordered 40.)
Where are you going through? I got mine through Shutterfly for pretty cheap because I had a credit. There are usually coupon codes floating around online if you look for them.
I"m not crafty, and would like to order bday invites that come with envelopes but $2per invite is crazy talk.
I don't understand why these are so much, but our Christmas cards from the same place were next to nothing.
what kind of printing are we talking? when it is a nicer printing method, usually the set up fee is pretty big, but then the quantity of prints doesn't change the price that much. so if you ordered a larger number of holiday cards or something... but I'm guessing whatever kind of printing is being done isn't using plates and what not, so I don't know why it would make such a big difference.
my other thought would be, maybe the company is hoping that since you aren't buying a ton, you only look at the total and not the cost per piece, and trying to pull a fast one on you by making them more expensive ).
is the paper quality any nicer? that would make a difference.

I also ordered from her, but printed at home. I loove her work - used her 3 times already.

Re: Why are invitations so stinkin expensive?
I got a great deal at Sam's Club for our Valentine's Cards. I got 50 for .28 cent each!
Maybe they do invites too??

And Costco includes the envelopes!

i ordered them through vistaprint and with envelopes and on recycled paper it was $1 a invite.
I would have saved like $15 if I used a stock design and not used recycled paper
