Re: g-tube and feeding tube
We used a Kangaroo PET for almost 8 months and liked it. Sometimes it was hard to prime the line because you have to fill a chamber only half way and if you fill it all the way you have to empty it and start over. It was also very touchy if it wasn't sitting straight up in the transport bag.
We changed supply companies so now we have an Enteralite Infinity and it is much easier to prime (you just hold down a button) and it is easier to transport. The drawbacks are when it gets air bubbles in the line it doesn't alarm like the Kangaroo and a few times it hasn't alarmed when it's supposed to (when the food runs out and there is air in the line in the machine).
Hope that helps!
Thanks again!
We have the Kangaroo Joey pump.
For the most part I like it. It's pretty small although a bit heavier than I would have thought. Priming is very easy, you just press a button and it primps by itself. It does alarm when you run out or if there is a clog/pinched tube. Set-up and programming were pretty easy - sort of like an ATM machine with buttons on the side.
The bag does have to be over the pump for it to work so the travel bag is quite long but narrow. It will alarm if the bag falls over.
I do plan on switching to a different pump once my daughter is able to walk because I won't be able to keep her still so she'll need to wear it. Right now we feed her in her highchair for 45 minutes 4 times a day (and continous at night).
The one weird thing about the pump is that if you do bolus feeds you can't remove the bag and tubing and then put it back on again for the next feed. The tube will not stay in the pump and then you have to put another one in (and when you only get one a day that just doesn't work). When we used formula that was mixed 6 ozs at a time I would take the whole pump plus bag and put it in the refrigerator between feedings. That was the only solution that our supply company offered.
