Bath Toys

Suction cups were not meant to stick in our tub/shower for some reason, so how else could I store these in a place that they can drain??  Most of her tub toys are cups, etc. that don't hold water, so although I'm not afraid of them molding, I don't like them on the bathroom counter all the time. Ideas?

Re: Bath Toys

  • We have a plastic blue Ikea garbage can. It has star shapes cut out of the sides and we made a few holes in the bottom with the drill for drainage. I don't even know if they still carry it, but I've seen other cute garbage cans that could work the same.

I like the idea of a mesh waste basket. That seems like a great idea. I would just worry about rust with a metal one. Bed, Bath and Beyond has some plastic baskets you could drill holes into.

I have a frog toy holder from Target that used sticky things to adhere to the tile walls.  I love it.

  • I have coat hooks on the back of the bathroom door.  I bought a mesh bag (a really big mesh bag with a draw string and a loop on one end) at the "everything for a dollar store" for $1 and hang that on the back of the door.  I only pull out 3 to 4 toys at a time and let them drain for a little while in the tub so that they are only damp when they go in the bag.  And if the bag tears up in 6 months or so, I go and buy another $1 bag.

  • I like the Boon Frog, did you use the adhesive strips to hold it?  and does it stick well with them?  Also I wonder if they're easy to remove.

I also like the bag idea.  I bet I could even use a Planetwise (diaper) wet bag and hang it on a hook, since like you said, most of her toys pretty much dry out before I put them away, plus if there was any water let in them to drip, the wet bag would contain it so it didn't leak onto the floor.  Then I could just toss the wetbag into the washer once in awhile.

    Great Ideas - thanks!!!

  • We drain and toss in a wicker basket w/ a cotton liner.

I like this idea too.  I just need something that's not going to take up lots of floor space, our bathroom is kind of small and we have the diaper genie in there too.  Maybe I could find a basket that would work though.  Thanks!
