Amber Teething necklaces?

Hi,

Has anyone used these?  And if so, how did it work out for your LO?  I was thinking of getting one for DS.  He has been miserable lately.  He has two bottom teeth, since late October and it seems like the top ones have been trying to come in forever.

I don't "personally" know anyone who has used one.  My husband is a little leary of them (doesn't think it will help)  and actually told me "Go ask those girls on that board".  LOL

Any experiences you can share?  Thanks!

Re: Amber Teething necklaces?

  • They look like a choking hazard to me (going around the neck.)  And Amber is brittle.  While it is all natural, when it does break, it makes sharp edges.  And if it is made of powdered amber, and some amber jewlery is, I would not want Michael to swallow resin.

  • Daisiesinmygarden uses them for her daughter, Maddie. I always see her wearing them in her sig pics. Hopefully she'll reply re: her experience with it.

  • We have had one on LO since she started teething. As far as it working, all I can tell you is at that time (before we put the necklace on her) she was waking every 2 hours screaming. The first night we put it on her, she managed to sleep 4 hours and wasn't as freaked out when she woke. We do still use Ibuprofin for her sometimes (but less than I would have w/o it), so it hasn't eliminated all pain and swelling, but I really do think it is helping and certainly isn't hurting.

As far as choking goes, I was leary at first also. I put it on her when she was distracted and she didn't even notice she was wearing it. It isn't for chewing on, rather it lays on the skin and body heat slowly releases a natural anti-inflamatory. I watched her closely and she doesn't play with it - except once. The one time she played w/it, I took it off her for a few weeks. The beads are small and should be knotted between each one for safety.
