I thought Id ask this here to see what you have to say, I could ask on the 9-12 month but I dont usually go over there and they seem cliquey....anyway.
When Lucas wakes up for the day and most of the time his naps he is full of energy ready to wake up and play. About a half hour later he is crying, whining, and rubbing his eyes. He wont play with me, he wont eat, he wont drink a bottle. He wants to go back to sleep. Do your kids do this/ Have they done this? What do I do? Right now I put him back down for a "nap" and when he wakes up from that (about a 1/2 hour-1 hour later) he is totally fine and we play, eat, go about our day as usual until the next nap.
I just feel like I'm always trying to get him to go back to sleep, but he is tired I dont know what else to do. Any thoughts? Advice?
Re: Waking up when still tired?
ha it is good to know I'm not the only one who has to deal with this.
My mom says just to let him not get up the first time, but I dont know if he'd understand yet why I'm not coming to get him when hes awake. But it never fails 1/2 hour after waking up he is a whiny mess.

My DD sorta did this until she dropped to one nap when she was 18 months. She was a great sleeper-- 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.--she'd wake up ready for the day, play for 1-2 hours and then take a morning nap for 1-1/2 hours. It was always so hard to go anywhere with this schedule because we didn't really get ready for the day until noon.
My advice is to enjoy the peace and quiet of that morning nap, because I miss my DD napping.
If when he wakes up the first time if he is content(not crying for you), then I would just let him be in his crib. You might be surprised and he could nod off again. Don't worry he won't think you've abandoned him. Just try it in the mornings and see what happens.
I used to rush in at their first call and then you could tell they hadn't gotten enough sleep. But then I tried just letting them be content in their cribs and as long as they were not screaming I would leave them and they usually fell back asleep.
