Questions about OBGYN--Andersen, Maanavi, et al

Hello everyone!  I'm new here and newly pregnant.  I'm considering OBGYNs (I'm also new to the area) and like what I've heard about the practice of Andersen, Maanavi, et al.  Can anyone tell me a bit about their experience with these doctors?  Also, if you've delivered at INOVA Fairfax, what was your experience like?  One specific question--they told me on the phone that with my insurance requires that I get my lab work done at the Lab Corp in the building.  If you've had to do this as well, was it convenient or a hassle?  Thanks so much for your help!

  • I just sent you a PM--I went to that practice for my second pregnancy.

  • I love Dr Andersen, but she isn't taking new patients.  I really like Drs. Muasher, Yoon , & Kinder. Dr Maanavi is my least favorite dr. in the practice. This practice came highly recommended to me and was the 4th OBGYN practice that I had tried in the area. I am happy to have found them. I delivered at Fairfax and had a good experience.

    This!!

I highly recommend this practice.  You will have to name a "primary" doctor and not all of them are accepting new patients, but since you are pg, you will rotate through all the doctors anyway.  Try to get Dr. Muasher as your primary dr.  Love, love love her!  I like them all but my favorites are Muasher and Dr. Glenna Andersen.  Dr. Andersen delivered my daughter and Dr. Kinder delivered DS.

As far as FFX hospital goes, I had a great experience with both deliveries.  I had some complications with both of them (pre-e) so I had several unscheduled visits for issues related to that, and my experiences those times were also very good.

I never had any issues with going to LabCorp.  It's right there in the building and you can just walk in without an appointment.

  • LOVE the practice.  I had to go to the lab downstairs too and it's not a big deal at all.  Both of my deliveries at Fairfax were great too. Dr. Andersen delivered both my children and she is amazing!  I have Dr. Yoon as my primary Dr. and she is great too.  I actually don't have anything bad to say about the practice.  I think some people were saying they don't like Dr. Maanavi as much, but she really helped me through my very first m/c.

  • Thanks everyone for your comments!  I decided to set an appointment with this practice and will go in to see them in a few weeks.  I appreciate your help!
  • I've been to Dr Maanavi once when I was a teen and loved her. She delivered all 4 of my sister's kids and she loves her too. I live out in ashburn or I would have used her for my 2 kids.
