Oh joy, I have a UTI

I have been having a few weird things going on lately: weird-smelling urine, random kidney pain, urgency to pee but very light stream... and then today I started having major crampiness in my ute/tummy and it even felt like I was having contractions (or at least what I perceived as contractions). I called the OB to ask if I was just experiencing BH and possibly just feeling uncomfortable since my munchkin is really starting to grow a lot, but without hesitation they said it sounded like I have a UTI and they called me in a prescription right away.

I hope this clears up fast because it doesn't feel very good! Has anyone else had a bladder infection or UTI while pregnant? I'm going to start chugging water and taking my meds. Lucky me, I get to sit through a conference from 8:30am-10:00pm Friday-Sunday this weekend, with a UTI Sleep FUN WEEKEND AHEAD!!

    Oh I'm sorry :( UTIs are the worst! When we were TTC on our own and doing TI, I swear I got them every month. Ok, sorry, TMI :) anyway, hopefully the meds will kick in soon so you don't feel so miserable! Did they also give you the med (I forget the name) that makes it less painful? I hope so!

    I get them all the time.  Drink cranberry juice.  It really helps!  I hope you start to feel better soon!  Which antibiotic did they give you?

    Aww, i'm sorry hon! I've never had one while PG, but I have had them in the past...THEY SUCK!

    I have one now too . . . just finished my three day course of Bactrim.  Here's to hoping that's the end of that!

    They gave me Nitrofurantoin Mono/Mac...?? Sounds scary but they assured me that it's safe to take.

    feel better soon! I think the antibiotics usually kick in within a day or two. Drink some plain cranberry juice. 
    IVF, acupuncture, meditation and a miracle.

    They keep thinking I have one, but I don't.  I kind of wish I did because magic drugs that would help me pee sound GREAT.

    I hope it clears up soon.  UTIs suuuuck!  I haven't had one in a while, but right now I have a yeast infections (ugh).

    Ugh, that sucks.  I had one too, and it turned into a bladder infection very quickly, so be glad that you caught it.  I took Macrobid or something.  It worked within about 2 days, and I also drank plenty of 100% cranberry juice, which can help with UTIs.  You'll be better soon - hang in there!  But watch out, once you get one, you can easily get another!

    Eek! UTI's stink normally -- I couldn't imagine how bad they'd be while pregnant! (((hugs)))
