HELP! FTM to 10 month old and 9 weeks pregnant!!!

I am hoping for any positive advice about raising two little babies that are so close in age. I am scared. I am excited. Please give me any tips for scheduling, preparing baby and what to expect or prevent once my new baby arrives. ANY BOOKS that you would recommend?? My 10 month old is a baby girl. She has/had acid reflux since birth and was in the nicu for 7 days due to congenital pneumonia. Since then, she has been very healthy and for the most part happy...

  • Congratulations! I can't give you advice as I only have one, but there are several girls on this board with much smaller age differences than that, so you should get some great advice.

  • My girls are 2 years and 4 days apart, so not as close as yours will be, but still close.  It's hard in the beginning, when the newborn occupies all of your time (especially if you're breast feeding) but every day, it gets easier.  The toddler gets more and more independent and the baby gets more active and it does get easier.

Now, my baby loves her older sister and the two of them can play together and interact and it's just the sweetest thing I've ever seen.  On hard days (and there are still plenty of those) I just remind myself that day will never repeat itself and tomorrow is another start.

  • Mine are 14 MONTHS apart...  It's all about survival.  My #1 tip is to work with the baby to make him/her more independant.  I taught my son to walk from our front door to the car and climb into his seat.  That was BIG.  We also took away all the "baby things" to avoid confusion.  Bottles, pacis, and crib went away.  No way I was going to have 2 kids with bottles and pacis...  We worked on self feeding, STTN, and little things like picking up toys and putting our plate in the sink.  With 2 little ones, you need them to be able to do some small tasks.  Find a good MDO, you'll need it!
  • Mine are 18 months a part and I love it.  You will be fine.
