has this happened to you? BFP then BFN

in 1st Trimester

So, I'm about 14 dpo and i just took a HPT (an EPT digital one)... i got a BFP!!!!!!!!! super excited.. i went to the store and just bought a cheap walgreens brand one.. then took it right away.. it was a BFN.

My sister who is a nurse, said she really does think i am.. as it is rare to get a false pos.  she believes that i'm so early, and my urine is not very strong and it was at night.. 

ps AF was due today, and she hasn't come.. nor showed any signs of coming... im going to take another test in the morning..

 has this happened to anyone? it's kinda freaking me out!!!

    The odds are the cheapie test just has a lower sensitivity level than the digital. Do you still have the box? It probably says somewhere on there...

    Your sis is right though. A false positive is VERY rare.

    ahh thanks! i am completely calmly freaking out right now. if that makes sense! lol.  i mean, i have not gotten my period...and we did have sex when the ovulation kit said i was good to go!

    i actually looked at the box, and the EPT digital had a 95% on -1 day before period.. and the cheapie had 85%

    so my husband is gonna pick up some more digital better tests on his way home from work and i will test again with FMU...

    Yes... you get what you pay for.. the cheap walgreens brand has a lower sensitivity then the one like EPT ... if you got a BFP then I believe that you are pregnant!

    This happened to me..and Im almost 8 weeks pregnant:) Congrats:)

     

    I took the test in the morning got a + took one later on thinking if it came out pos it will again and it was neg. I just was so early I needed to test with my first morning urine:)

    Not exactly the same, but I got a negative on a dollar store test at 13dpo, then a positive on a first response at 16 dpo.  I think I just test way too early for the sensitivity of that test.

    On Tuesday (12 DPO) I got a faint positive line with the first response test & the same on Wednesday. I also decided to try a digital test yesterday & the cheapo dollar tree ones and both came up negative :( I didnt test this morning because today would also be my AF day, so I am waiting to test again tomorrow morning if she hasnt come yet. This is so frustrating! I hope you it turns out for both of us!! :)

    Actually, that's not always true.  In fact, the dollar store brand HPT are pretty accurate.  I went to those after a year and a half of wasting my money on the more expensive ones.  Then once I got a BFP, I tried a few different brands to be sure :)
