Good evening, girls! I apologize if this has been asked already.
DS has started fussing (whining, moaning, crying, sometimes pulls off) while nursing lately. Both boobs.
We went in for his 4 month check up today and I asked about it, as I thought it might be teething (he's got two little bumps on his bottom gums where teeth might be coming in) and it's hurting to suck.
She explained the bumps weren't the beginnings of teeth, and sometimes babies establish a routine/habit while they eat and it's nothing to worry about.
I am wondering if you ladies have experienced anything similar to this. He seems like he's in pain to nurse (he's typically an awesome eater) and my diet hasn't changed, nor positioning, or anything I can think of.
Can you help me with what I am missing?
We eventually tough it out, he eats, and usually falls asleep afterwards. It's just heartbreaking to see and hear and if there's something I can fix I'm all for trying it.
I appreciate any advice.
Thank you!
Re: Fussing at Breast...
We get this a lot too! Poor babies. Often she's gassy and we help her with Up&Up gas drops. Sometimes she just screams
She just never seems to eat "correctly." She smacks her tongue at every suck with bottles and lately on the breast she does this weird thing, it's like "sucksucksuck....pull away...sucksucksuck....pull away...." etc. I have no idea why she's doing it!
My DD pulled off a lot when I had thrush. She had like one spot in her mouth (I had to really search to even see it), so we both were treated and I now take a probiotic daily to try and keep it away. I had a lot of the symptoms of trush on top of just the pulling off. Just thought I would share in case that is what is going on with you guys
Good luck and keep up the great work with breastfeeding!
Thank you so much for your replies, ladies!
"sucksucksuck....pull away...sucksucksuck....pull away...." is almost textbook my LO's behavior!
I appreciate all of your help!
