tender nipples is this normal

OK so my nipples have been sore for a couple of weeks now. But today they past the hurt phase and hit the excruciating pain phase. Its been cold (27 degrees, but that?s not normal for us Texans :) wayyyy to cold) and as I was walking to my car on my lunch break I started to get goosebumps, trying to say warm. Needless to say my nipples decided to firm up as well and oh my goodness when they did this it felt like they were on fire!! This lasted only about 10 min, till I warmed up but it felt like a life time. Is this normal? Is anyone else having this feeling?

oh and I will be 16 weeks tomorrow :) Thank you for your help in advance

  • Very normal. I don't know what's worse...that or a case of the itchy nips! That's what I've had the past few weeks Sad

  • wow this makes me nervous for breast feeding cause Ive heard that how your breast feel before delivery is a cake walk compared to the first 2-4 weeks breast feeding! Would lotion help any or is it not good to put lotion on your nipples?

  • Maybe TMI, but when I finally got the nerve to mess around last week or so, my hubby barely touched mine and I actually cried it hurt so bad! :) That was hot, I'm sure!

Lol, that happened to me too, except I didn't cry. Instead, my reflexes took over and I smacked him. He's so upset that he can't play with my boobs, especially now that they're huge.

    OP, it's normal. And painful!

  • Ugh!  This has been happening to me as well.

One of my books said to try putting olive oil on them.  It seemed to provide some quick relief, but be forewarned: your DH will get all worked up if he sees you doing it.

  • Yes, it's normal.  And just think!  In a few weeks, they may start leaking!  Yay, pregnancy!
