Questions for those who are having/had LO's bday party in a restaurant

I am going to assume that you did/will cover the cost of food? That's what we are planning to do. :)

What about alcohol though? I don't want to cover that, but will cover soft drinks. Is that reasonable or a serious faux pas? I mean it's not a wedding. :)

    Its a kid's birthday party...no need to have alcohol.  If people want to drink let them pay for it.

    I agree with Jung: no need for alcohol at a baby's party.  Soft drinks, water, iced tea, etc. should be enough.

    As I had a Christmas Ale or two at Ellie's pizza dinner, we paid for it all, but it was a small group and no one had more than 2 beers (eh Puckchick or did you have 3 Devil).

    yes, we paid for the food- wouldn't even think of asking guests to pay (though it sure would've been nice for my bank account!). but there was a cash bar as there was no way in hell i'd pay for someone to drink at a 1 year old party that was scheduled for 2 hours. we did it at a pizza joint and the price was for pizza and pop so it worked out well. actually, other than the final cost (we had 50 people), i have no regrets because we didn't have to worry about setting anything up or cleaning anything up! just show up, party, and go!

    We are having Logan's party at a local pizza place. I reserved the room today. We will have a small group, probably only 10 people and there won't be any other kids there. I could see our friends ordering a beer or two and my MIL having wine which I dont have a problem with.  I just don't think it's necessary to pay for that. I won't drink, just because I would rather use my WW pts on the food. :)

    Is there a certain way to let people know. I mean DH would be ok with just telling everyone at the party. :)

    Personally, I'd put something like "join us for pizza, pop, and cake..." on the invite and then make sure to let the waitstaff know that you're not paying for any booze. I'm pretty sure the wait staff could let them know they would have to pay for it if ordered... I would think, at least.
