I'm always wondering if I should be feeding DD a little more solids than I do already (usually about 1.5oz of something between 6-7pm), or if I'm on track with the solids. We started solids about a 6 weeks ago and it has been going well. I decided to jump on gerber.com to check out their menu planner to see what they would have be doing. They recommend 24 fl oz of breastmilk a day(which is fine....she usually takes between 25-30oz). But they have me feeding her solids 4x a day! 2 1/2 tubs of food plus 8TBSP of cereal! Holy Sh!t. Is it just me but that sounds like a crap load of food! I get full just at the sound of that! I can't imagine DD would have enough room in her belly for that. What 5 month old do they think eats like that???
Re: gerber.com menu planner...WTF???
at 5.5 months old we were giving 1 tub/jar/equivalent of homemade baby food plus cereal mixed in with it each day. Even now he does not eat 4 times a day, he eats 3 times a day, he does eat a whole tub's worth of food at a time, though.
That does seem like an awful lot.
DD BF about every 3 hours, and if she's hungry she'll eat 2 tubs (stage 2 which are 3.5 oz each) in a day.
