Anyone making Valentine's Day plans?

My scheduled C-section is the morning after V-day and I'm trying to decide if we should make reservations for a nice dinner or skip it this year. It makes me sad when people say we won't be celebrating V-day anymore once we have LO b/c his bday will overshadow it. I know many of us are due on or around V-day. Anyone else making plans?

Re: Anyone making Valentine's Day plans?

  • I think it would be sweet to go out the night before your induction- Valentine's Day or not. When they decided to induce me, I had just over 2 hours before i had to be at the hospital to start it. We ran home, got all our stuff and ate at McD's. It wasn't fancy, but it was nice to go out- even if all we did was make the deer in headlights face at each other the entire time ;)

  • It's funny because we're not big V-day celebrators, but I did make a resv at our favorite neighborhood Italian restaurant.  It's usually super-crowded and they only take resvs for 5+ people so there are long waits for just 2, but I was there last week and noticed they were taking smaller parties for V-day so I figured it will be nice to be able to walk right in for once.  It's the night before my EDD so I'm hoping maybe they'll have an eggplant parmesan special that night ;)
  • I don't want to be super pregnant at a nice restaurant so I think we are thinking a drive to the town over and some Panera. Yummy food and just chilling. Oh and sex, of course, which will have nothing to do with getting a baby...nothing at all Wink
  • i wish! we normally do something but not this year.

  • Yep. Having a baby. I'm scheduled for an induction on Valentine's Day if my OB doesn't need to induce me before that...I'm battling a drop in fluids.

  • My induction date is Valentine's Day. So I guess our plans will be holding our little one...hopefully. Smile

How exciting! GL to you ladies who are 40+ weeks!

  • We would have done something this year but I have a scheduled c/s Valentine's morning. So, our only plans this year are to spend our first day with our DD.

  • I think you should go out to your fav. restaurant as long as your feeling well. As exciting as it is to be bringing your little one into the world, it would be nice to have one more romantic night with your man before your lives change! I would do dinner then go home for some relaxation and alone time! Hope you enjoy it! GL

So true. I think we will make reservations somewhere close to home and just focus on having one last night together before our big arrival. Not like I'll be getting any sleep that night anyway! It will be just what I need to take my mind off things :)

  • We're still deciding whether we should attempt to make Valentine's Day plans or not.  It's just hard to plan when you don't know when you're going to go into labor. From the beginning, my due date has been a range between Feb. 13 - Feb. 23rd (I use the later one for my ticker so that I won't be so disappointed if he isn't born by the 13th.) so it's just hard to know if we'll be at the hospital, or still sitting at home waiting for him.  We talked about renting a movie and picking up some groceries to make a special dinner at home, but nothing set in stone.

  • Well, for the actual day...we'll be in the hospital and I'll be having a baby (unless he decides to show up before then). I am set to check in to the hospital on the 13th at 9PM so more than likely LO will show up on V-Day. That being said, we're still going to exchange cards/gifts on the actual day. Also, I think we might try to go out this weekend, maybe Saturday night and somewhat have a date night type of thing for V-Day and just to celebrate our last night out together as "just us".
