Should I be concerned? (slight tmi)

Should I be concerned that I haven't had a period yet? Or am I just lucky? I'm still EBF, and he still nurses 3 or 4 times a day. I am starting to feel like I need to call the doctor...

Re: Should I be concerned? (slight tmi)

  • No, I would not be concerned. I just had my first period in January, and I stopped all nursing/pumping in October.  It is normal to not have a period while BFing.

  • I think you should POAS. Wink  Just kidding.  I think you're probably just one of the lucky ones (unless, of course, you are thinking of TTC soon).

On a related note, what are the chances that MY AF will stay the eff away for an entire year, this time around?

  • Mine didn't come back until 9 months pp. So it's certainly possible! No chance of pregnancy?

  • If you're worried I would be happy to give you my period. I have no use for it but it keeps showing up.

  • Mine didn't come back last time until Hudson was 13 months old- i was still nursing a couple times a day, but were finished with anything overnight. I am hoping AF stays away at least that long again!
  • I got mine 4mos pp... It sucked!! I have a couple friends who didn't get theres until after they were completely finished nursing..so normal, but like ppl said, stinks if you want to TTC.

  • POAS just to be sure.

You laugh- I POAS at 4 months PP and I was EBF... we find out next week what we are having.

It's okay, you can laugh. I do (it's the only way to stay sane).

  • Kittahmama makes a great point here. Just because you aren't having your period does NOT mean you are not ovulating. There are a few ladies on this board who have babies conceived before they ever had a PP period.

  • POAS and then relax. My period didn't come back until a few weeks after Logan stopped nursing--15 months pp. As my OB said, just consider yourself lucky! :-)

  • Ha!  Thanks Moesten, I'll let you keep yours :)

Pretty sure I don't need to POAS...  I've been using BC, so I think I'm all good there.  Just have never known of anyone to go a whole year after baby - didn't realize it was so common.  The longest I knew of was 9 months after baby, so I was starting to get worried.
