sometimes I'm smart!

Amidst a sea of mommy mistakes, I finally used the ol' noodle to solve a problem! Yay for Mommy!!

Warner's latest and greatest trick is that he has learned how to unzip his sleep sack, take it completely off and then take him pajamas off. Then he proceeds to dance for joy around his crib, triumphantly singing Itsy Bitsy Spider. It's pretty hilarious to watch in the monitor, but it's sure not helping him get to sleep!

So after 4-5 days of this and me resisting actually safety pinning his sleep sack closed (I don't even want to think about the damage he would do if he managed to open the safety pin), I had a moment of brilliance.

I put the sleep sack on him INSIDE OUT! He was stumped. I could see him in the monitor trying over and over again to find the zipper pull and failing. I WON!!! (yes, I'm celebrating my son's failure, is that a problem?) And then he fell asleep...it was glorious.

  • I'm laughing imagining him doing that!

This made me LOL. Way to triumph over the toddler!

  • Too funny!  Little ones have a refreshing way of seeing the world.  I'll contribute my "I'm smart" moment from this week.  DD regressed and had gone back to sleeping in the crib after baby came home.  I couldn't seem to do anything to incent her back.  I realized after 2 weeks what she really loved was the mobile, so I attached it to the bookcase by her bed.  Now she sleeps in her big girl bed again.
  • brilliant!  LOL  I just read this to DH!
  • That's seriously hilarious!

  • That's a great idea.  I've heard of putting the sleep sack or sleeper on them backwards so they can't reach the zipper, too.  Luckily I haven't run into this with either kid, but I can see DS doing it down the road.

Sorry you won't get the show anymore, though.  My favorite thing about using the video monitor was watching DD sing and play with her animals while she was supposed to be napping.  I love the silly entertainment they provide at that age.

I know! This is why I heart video monitors! You get to "catch" them being so cute!

  • I love outsmarting the kids, you feel so triumphant to be smarter than a 3 year old (I don't win very much with the 3 yo so get all your wins in now).

I'm using that SleepSack as long as I can!  DS can shuffle back and forth in the crib wearing it, but I don't think he can climb out wearing it.  (He may prove me wrong, especially now that I've written that.)

bh -- Great work!  And too bad you couldn't record the monitor.  What a hilarious image!
