I have waxed other places on the face and nethers but I have never done lip waxing so I can't speak to the pain.
I did bleaching for YEARS and in December I tried laser hair removal. Kind of expensive but totally worth it. It's been 2 months and I only just now see some re-growth and even then it's only a few stubborn, dark hairs. I will probably bite the bullet and pay the $200 for one more treatment. That price was for chin, lip and random spots on my neck. (TMI - sorry)
I do this routinely every 4 weeks. It hurts pretty bad, both with and without the fabric used), but it's just a short bit of pain. Every time I go and sit down I think to myself that I always forget how bad it hurts. But it's worth it and just a short period of time. I'm usually red for about 10-30 minutes.
There are some medicines that will amplify the effect and could cause additional irritation, but the person you get waxed from should be able to explain that.
I get mine done every 6-8 weeks. I'm not gonna lie- it hurts... but only for a minute. I tolerate the lip waxing better than the eyebrows. But I think that's because I can "see" her coming with the cloth to pull the wax up, and I can't see her as well with the lip.
My skin stays red for a while, but it's really wonky.
