Here's what the travel agent rec'd:
Sandals Halcyon Beach Resort & Spa in St Lucia
Sandals Grande Riviera Villas & Spa Resort, Ocho Rios, Jamaica
NH Royal Beach Punta Cana,
El Dorado Royale Resort & Spa, Riviera Maya Mexico
Any experience with any of these? Other suggestions?
Re: honeymoon--anyone been to any of these?
My brother went there for his HM and he says IT.WAS.AMAZING.
None of the above, but we loved Sandals Whitehouse in Jamaica.
I honestly think you can't go wrong with any all-inclusive. I'll admit that we were skeptical of Sandals - seemed cliche' to us, and we weren't sure it would feel upscale. It definitely did. Amazing food, awesome drinks, gorgeous rooms.
One thing about Sandals Whitehouse that you should know is that it's pretty far away from excursions like waterfalls, etc. We chose it on purpose because we didn't want to do any of that stuff.
We stayed at the Sandals Grande in St. Lucia and LOVED it. We went to the Halcyon one day and weren't really impressed. It is very small and is on a very public part of the beach. The Grande and the Regency in St. Lucia both have private beaches with no access by the public.
And in response to your FB post. We liked St. Lucia better because there were 3 resorts we could go to. Antigua is just one. ANtigua is BEAUTIFUL and the water was much pretty than St. Lucia. All in All they are both fantastic. I think we are just sentimental about st. lucia bc of our honeymoon
We went to the Aventura Spa Palace in Riviera Maya. It is near Tulum, which is an amazing ruins site. I would recommend doing an all-inclusive in the Riviera Maya.
Personally, on my honeymoon we didn't want to take time away from pool/beach/each other to spend on a bus going to other resorts or excursions. We only did Tulum b/c of its beauty and close proximity.
My recommendation in general is to pick an adults-only resort with 4 or more restaurant options and just to hole up for the time you've got! Unless you are an active couple, then my advice wouldn't apply so much.
We also went Dreams Tulum and it was AMAZING! We only went on one bus excursion to the Tulum ruins the rest of the time we stayed at the resort so much to do and the food was always very very good we still talk about it a few years later.
