1st Trimester

Not eating. Not good. Need snack suggestions.

I feel like absolute crap today.  I didn't have time for lunch!  I had meetings all day and couldn't grab my lunch in between.  So I got home and sat down to eat my sandwich from lunch.  But my dogs wanted in and so I went to get the door.  Then one of the dogs flew inside, grabbed the sandwich on the coffee table and chowed down.  I was so mad!  I actually broke down crying and pouting.  So I called DH who is working late and sobbed to him.  So he's trying to tell me over the phone to start making dinner.  First, I don't cook.  Second, I was not in the state to actively solve a problem.  So just cried and cried and told him I'd eat a yogurt.  We only buy food that we need for meals (a budget thing) so snack food is rare.  DH actually just the bought the yogurt for me this week.

So there's the story.  Now I need suggestions.  I really haven't had any nausea.  I actually just haven't had an appetite.  When I skipped lunch today I wasn't even that hungry!  When I eat, I can only eat a little bit and then I'm full.  I need suggestions for snacks.  I am not a snack person.  Three meals a day and that's it.  Any easy snack ideas I can have DH put together for me?  We don't eat a lot of processed foods so anything is prepacked probably won't fly with DH.  But if you highly recommend it - let me know :)

Did I mentioned my DH is the best?  I really picked a winner.

  • You could give him a mission to make up snack baggies for you with a couple different items in each baggie such as:

    carrot sticks & cheese cubes

    raisins & apple slices

    nuts & dried fruit

Then you snack quickly and eat healthy and hubby feels like he's contributing.

  • Loading the player...
  • keep cut veg in the fridge to snack on like carrot sticks, celery sticks etc. in the fridge to snack on

for a quick energy snack on the go get some healthy cereals and keep a ziplock of it in your purse, or craisins, raisins, trail mix etc

  • I have a schedule where you eat lunch...if you have time. So what I take for quick snacks:

nuts/dried fruit, yogurt (add grains to it) , apples, or cut up fresh fruit the night before, and anything peanut butter. (Peanut butter & crackers or celery.)

    Good luck!

  • Peanut butter sounds really good!!  Thanks!
  • Even pre-pregnancy a spoonful of peanut butter was a go-to snack.

Babybel cheese or string cheese is another option.

On nights when I don't feel like eating but know I have to I just head for the cereal.

  • I'm happy to see the peanut butter suggestion made you happy! Peanut butter has saved me during this pregnancy!! It's sometime the only thing I can and want to eat!

  • I've found that adding fruit to yogurt really hits the spot!!! Also cottage cheese and fruit is yum too!!
  • I eat cheddar cheese sticks a lot...if you want to avoid prepackaged just buy a big block of cheese and cut it up.

I love Fage Greek yogurt with the fruit on the side, with some granola.

I've been doing a ton of oranges and grapes lately.

Prepackaged, but I also snack on Fiber One bars...the Walmart and Target brand ones are pretty good.
