Part of me thinks it sounds "dog-ish". However, my dd's nn is Sam, and I also think THAT sounds "dog-ish". I just think that Max R- is such a terribly "boyish" name, and it could be good for a grownup.
Yeah, it's also up there for teasing. "Grody to the Max," which is dating me, but there's more out there, I'm sure.
What do you think? (For a boy)
Re: What do you think of the name Max?
I like Max, but it makes me think of a line in a song by my fave band "don't need none of that Mad Max bullshit".
also, Mad Max would be an awesome nickname.
I think Max is a good name if it is short for something. I don't think I would just name a baby Max.
I never would have thought of "grody to the max!"
Maxwell? Maximus? or just Max?
I like the name and tried to convince my brother in-law and his wife to name their recent son that...but they went with Luke.

I work on movies and in the past week I've watched Liar Liar (little boy named Max) and Max Payne. The name just kinda "came to me".
I think I like Maxwell best of all the "options". Better than Maximus or Maximillian or anything like that.

My manager has twin boys, and one is named Max. She named him after the book, "Where the Wild Things Are", since its her favorite kids book.
I like it.
i like it.
true story ~ my friend had a dog max growing up.. and now she has a husband named max. i dont know why but i always laugh about that when i think of it.
okay that was probably pretty lame but oh well i amused myself.
PS I had a vent post about this about a week or so ago. When I disclosed the name to a friend (against my better judgment) she spits out that its a dog's name. Oh Well...to each his/her own.

(I would have named our most recent lab Max, but my DH would not let me b/c he wanted to save the name for future baby!
