So, we're not 'unemployed'. Most of us don't 'stay at home', so SAHM is inaccurate. Homemaker is both outdated and inaccurate (I do not make homes for a living). Housewife makes people scoff. Full-time mom implies that working moms are only part-time moms.
So, what would you call us? Is there a good term? Or shall we invent one?

I love 'domestic goddess', but that so doesn't describe me. I am definitely not the best housekeeper . . .
LOL, I suck. I am a horrible housekeeper - cooking I am cool with but I hate cleaning

Yeah, I get that we're not unemployed. My point was that we need a better term.
I think labels are overrated! lol
But, I want my pigeon-hole to hide in!

A friend of mine sent me this email a long time ago and so this is what I have on my FB page under "works at"
I am a "Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human Relations"
Trophy wife.
Not really, but it's so fun to say just to see people's expression!
I like this! Particularly since I'm currently a full-time student majoring in Human Development and Family Studies.
I'm not sure when the term "stay-at-home mom" displaced "housewife" and made it outdated, but I don't mind either.

I always say I got a promotion. I now am blessed to stay at home with my two kids.
sorry, i feel like a dummy now. i didn't see/read all the previous posts on this topic before i read/replied to yours! wasn't trying to sound like a repetitive know-it-all.
on forms that list a blank for employment, i usually just write "none." when people ask what i do i tell them i sah or sometimes just say 'i don't work, i have a 2 year old daughter i stay home with.'
You may say it as a joke, but I really am.
(That's for you Tabitha for not putting the "I worship the devil" response I told you about.
I take it you were not a Seinfeld fan. I'd be careful who you say this to - it's got a whole other meaning to me.
Umm, I know - it was meant to be a joke
