dressy clothes help (pip now)

image

We're going out to a fancy dinner place on Friday...

I have two dresses I can wear. One is black and had fluttery short sleeves and the other is a burgundy with a subtle paisley print (olives and blues) tank dress.

Both are knee length and would need a wrap or sweater or something.

1) what exactly is a wrap and how do you wear it?

2) would a cardigan work? like a smooth knit trim one?

3) do I wear tights and shoes? what kind of shoes? would knee high brown leather books work?

i took a picture of the dresses, but my laptop isn't playing nice so I can't post em, but I could email them to you :)

Help please.

  • 1) A wrap is basically like a giant scarf.  One example of how to wear it:

(I googled "pashmina wrap" and tons of examples popped up.)

    2) I think a cardigan would be fine, if it was also dressy.  I think smooth would be best.

    3) I wouldn't wear brown boots; they don't seem dressy enough with those dresses. What are your other dressy shoe options?  I'd wear tights if it's chilly, and probably go with a neutral like black or grey, depending on your show choice.

FWIW, I like the black dress best, but I personally don't like to wear sleeveless. (As I am still getting buff with my shake weight, but don't feel like I'm ready to showcase my guns just yet.)

  • I have a pair of i don't know what you call em. tiny heel and you slide it on (backless) but they have a black on black eyelet so I don't know if that ok or not.

or a pair of black sandals.

i'll most likely need to shop for shoes and a cargo/wrap :)

also, i word new shoes over the weekend and have a blister on the back of my left ankle :

  • Mules!  Those are the backless slip ons.  Possibly a good choice if you have a blister already, right?  The only tricky part might be if tights make those too slippery to wear.

If you prefer low heels, you might find a wedge comfortable.

I think, if you wear the black dress, it would look really nice to wear a wrap that's a pop of color or has a pattern.

  • I agree that a colorful wrap would be good with the black dress.  I don't really think I'd do tights with mules, I think it would be slippery and uncomfortable.

    Cute dresses.  :)
