Pedi recs in Gaithersburg/Rockville

We are officially here now (after relocating from North Carolina)! I have checked out Potomac Peds and Hirsch Peds online (practices that were recommended from this board). My only concern (if I'm remembering correctly) is that they don't have sick clinics on Sat. and Sun.

Our pedi in NC had sick only appts on Sat. and Sun. mornings and I swear the only time DS gets really sick is on the weekend. He came down with RSV and had to be hospitalized on a weekend and last month he had a nasty virus with a temp over 105 on a Sat. night and then just last weekend, he came down with strep on Sat. afternoon. So I feel like it's important to have sick hours on the weekends since we've had to use it a lot. I saw that some pedi practices here send you to urgent care on the weekends--are these pediatric urgent cares? Our experience has been that regular run of the mill urgent cares do not do a good job of addressing issues with kids (and often miss things or misdiagnose).

Sorry so long--but any other recs with weekend sick hours? or are we just spoiled by our old pedi office? Thanks ladies!

Our pedi does sick visits on Sat and Sun. Pediatrics and Adolescent Care in Gaithersburg MD. I always get a quick call back after hours and if they have to see anyone they come in on the weekends. We mostly see Dr. Taylor for check ups but have seen just about everyone for sick visits and they are all great.

When I went to a meet and greet at Potomac Pediatrics a month or so ago they said they do have sick hours on Saturday mornings - it might be worth calling to double check.

This. When we went to a meet and greet last fall they said this. I was surprised when they said it because it's not advertised on their website.

You don't really need Saturday sick clinics with Dr. Hirsch's practice. He is a single person practice and told us he would stop taking new patients when he couldn't remember all of their names on sight. He gives out his cell phone number on his voicemail and always calls back within an hour, so I imagine he would take care of anything you needed done, even on weekends or holidays. The customer service is amazing. Not at all like any of the bigger practices I visited. Very personalized and cutting edge technology-wise.

Ditto - we went with this practice due to tracy's recommendation and have been very happy with their responsiveness.

Re: Dr. Hirsch - This. We love him and he calls back so quickly. He told me to call him on the weekend after MG had gotten her TB shot and wanted to make sure everything was okay.
