We used JcPenny portrait studio in Katy. Our photographer was/is Anne and she is the only one they I would get to take the pictures. We had a couple others there in the past year, but DS just didn't care for them and certainly didn't cooperate. Anne is really good with the kiddos.

We've used Portrait Innovations, Picture People, and JcPenneys- I like Portrait Innovations the best. I think they are a little pricier than the other two but they still have good package deals. We recently took Rena and her BFF to Penneys (Pearland location) for some fun Valentines pics and they came out really cute and were very cheap!
I've always wanted to use a professional photographer - someone who
would take time to really work with you and baby and get amazing photos. Unfortunately that's not in the budget for us right now so we usually go to Portrait Innovations (Baybrook location). Some of the people there are really good with kids/babies, others are terrible. It's kind of a crap shoot but I've always ended up with at least a few good shots. And if not ... at least it's cheap.
My friend takes her DD to Kiddie Kandids and I've never been impressed with the quality of the prints, they always seem really dark to me.
We used Picture People for her 3 month photos. We typically use photographers from the Nest but decided last minute (like two days before) to take pictures while my mom was in town. We went to the Galleria location and compared to the amazing pictures KelleyA and Dora have taken for us, Picture People paled in comparison. They were too posed and really all the good poses we came up with. They would have had us doing Olin Mills crap. I know it depends on who you get but since we didn't know who to ask for we got whoever was available and I didn't think she was creative or helpful at all. If ILs were not there to shake the toy to get DD to smile nothing would have happened. I can't remember the name of the guy who everyone raved about there...Omar maybe? Anyhow, I think it all depends on who you get.
I would also suggest looking at a professional photographer. They often have things called mini sessions. This way you get the custom look of a pro photographer, but you don't have to spend a full session fee price. The mini session also have cheaper packages as well.
When you go to places like the mall or Portrait Innovations they are cookie cutter and will not work with you on things that you really want to do. Like go outside, use a certain prop, shoot in her room, edit the portraits, print on metal or iPhone cases, etc.
So paying a little more can get you a lot. People like Farrah or myself can offer you alot of options. I know most of us do minis just for this reason.
Hope this helps.

We used Chubbyfoot Photography and loved the results. We did a full session for our engagement pictures and his newborn and a mini session for his 6 month pictures.
photo studios are overpriced and very limited when it comes to working with you and the baby. tracirobinsonphotography.blogspot.com does an amazing job! affordable, amazing, and you get everything on dvd with printing rights. it's also onlocation. she comes to you

I think it's funny that you speak of yourself in the 3rd person. Just an observation....
