BTDT Moms - Hopsital Question

We are getting to the point that we are packing the hospital bag. I know what to pack for myself, etc. but have NO clue what you pack for the baby. They did not go over this in our birthing class & I forgot to ask as well.

Do you provide all the outfits, blankets, diapers? I know that we will pack a "picture" outfit & his going "home" outfit but what about when they are first born?

Re: BTDT Moms - Hopsital Question

  • They will provide all of the diapers you need.  However, the wipes they provided at our hospital were not really wipes so the next time around I'll be bringing my own wipes.  We packed his diaper bag and in it we had a picture outfit and 2 comfy sleepers.  I also made sure we took little fingernail clippers, nail files and a blanket.

  • You actually need very little for baby at the hospital. They will provide wipes, diapers, shirts, hat, and blankets. We brought one or two sleepers, an extra hat, and blankets for going home. (in addition to the photo outfit of course)

  • We were slacker parents and left him in the hospital clothes until it was time to go home. They provided the diapers and wipes (real wipes, they were pampers sensitive) and blankets, but we did bring our own blanket for going home. I think that was about it for him.

  • When I had DS2 they supplied diapers, wipes (wet), shirts, hats, blankets, nasal aspirator and lap pads.

22 months later with DD they supplied diapers, disposable dry wipes (wet with warm water to use), shirts, hats, blankets and nasal aspirator.

We actually prefer the dry wipes because we don't use wet wipes on DS2 anymore because it irritates him so we were using cotton and water which works much better.

This.  His going home outfit was the outfit we used for pictures, but other than that he wore hospital garb and we used the provided diapers and wipes.

This.  We did bring one outfit for photos and coming home, but ended up doing diaper only baby photos (cuter that way I think) and really regretted our bringing home outfit.

This time around Addy's bag will be packed, just in case I have to stop on the way home (although I doubt it highly) and will have the normal stuff... extra clothes (sleeper type stuff), socks, blanket, diapers/wipes, pacifiers, etc.  However other than her coming home/photo outfit (which again I have one for both this time around) I don't really plan on using any of it.  St. E provided everything last time.
