Is Anyone's LO Fighting The Bottle?

I don?t know if it?s because DS was sick on Sunday.  Maybe it?s because of his tooth coming in.  I?m really not sure.  We had such a struggle trying to get him to eat before bed last night.  I didn?t know what to do.  He would scream and fuss whenever we tried to give it to him.  We got no where and had to put him to bed without him eating.

When he woke up this morning, he ate a 6 ounce bottle.  So, I felt a little better.  Is anyone else experiencing anything like this with their LO?

Re: Is Anyone's LO Fighting The Bottle?

  • DS did this when he had an ear infection, sucking hurts their ears if they have an ear infection.

    good luck

  • YES!  I also posted last night that my LO fights her night bottle.  She is working on her 6th tooth and may even be fighting a cold.  I have been frustrated as well that she is going to bed with little in her belly.  She sometimes even fights the morning bottle after about 4 oz! :(  So I have been letting her drink what she will in my arms and then I put her in the crib and let her drink the bottle in the crib and she surprsingly takes most of it.  I am with her the whole time and do not leave the bottle with her in the crib and she swallows all the formula when she is done so it is not sitting in her mouth.   I dont know if it's the right thing to do but my LO is fed before going to bed.  I hope this helps!

  • We've had issues with this in the past...if your LO it teething, it can hurt to suck. It could be a behavioral thing b/c they may remember that it hurt and may still refuse it until they realize it doesn't hurt anymore.

More recently, DS was refusing the bottle for a week before he got sick with RSV/bronchiolitis. It could also be an ear infection.

Does your LO have a blocked nose? If DS has any sort of snot in his nose, he won't eat. We have to really suction it (and use saline) before each feeding if that's the case.

Hope this helps! You're not the only one dealing with this.
