When we first got our Dx, my RE (at the time) looked right at us and said...
"Oh MFI---IVF w ICSI, ull have twins and you will never be back here". I know he was sort of joking, but come on!?!?!?
After beta hell, a m/c, a d&c, and DH's situation getting worse....I really wish it wasn't downplayed to us.
I was soooo naive when we started this. I miss a bit of that "blissful ignorance". I have come to terms, that this is a different journey than I expected. But enough already!!!! When are any of us going to catch a break??
OK vent over, thanks for listening.

I hope you dont mind me replying!
I felt this way with my first RE... he said "we will do IUIs with your clomid you have already been on and if we need to go to injectables we can, YOULL NEVER NEED IVF".
Thank god I changed Drs because 7IUIs later I was completely out of hope. I had a BFN on IVF w/ICSI #1 and I wanted to go back there and tell him what I thought of him and his false hope. Just keep trying and dont give up. IVF#2 (frozen cycle) did it for us and I am so glad that I kept pushing and didnt let anything stop me.
(((HUGS)))
I'm sorry hon. I saw your posts. I hope there is some weird reason the tests were off. I hope they still have your DH's sample just in case.
It really sucks your RE downplayed it so much to you guys. IF really sucks.

I guess my way of doing that, was leaving LOL.
Yeah, I definitely think these doctors say stupid shiit about conceiving with MFI. I can't help but wonder about the quality of sperm our uro is so eager to use for ICSI. I'm scared we're setting ourselves up for disappointment.
ugh, sorry, didn't mean to vent my own issues, just want you to know that I understand and I'm sorry.
sending you ::hugs:: and love
Me: PCOS/Amenorrhea DH: Azoospermia due to Y Chromosome Micro Deletion IVF w/ ICSI on hold until further notice

Our RE never promised us a take home baby - he really tried to keep our expectations realistic for the chance of finding sperm in the mTESE. I did feel like we would eventually get one through IVF if we were able to find sperm!
I remember when he called with my fert report for our first IVF. He told me when to come in for the transfer and that we'd transfer 2 embryos....I def wasn't prepared for there not to be any when we got there!
Forever our's October 17th 2012
We definitely got that from our first RE. He told us that "his tail was wagging" because of my age. When we got our S/A back, we were told, "no worries-IVF with ICSI will make it all better". When we got the call that we were going to need to do the TESE two days before ER we felt like we were completely in the dark. No one had EVER mentioned it. Surprisingly our original RE never said anything-it was the RE covering for him from another clinic that brought it up.
Our new RE has been very upfront of the success with using DH's sperm. It was extremely helpful with us being able to move on to DS. She does seem so hopeful with the DS IUI that it will work that it's hard to know what we should do if this one doesn't work.
We have a friend with MFI-and her first IVF and first FET failed, and the second IVF was a blighted ovum, so we knew that IVF with ICSI wasn't the answer-you are just so hopeful that you will be one of the lucky ones.
From being on this board now for the past 7/8 months I've come to see that beautiful embies wind up with BFN's or m/c's, while not so great embies make babies. There was one person that I thought for sure she would get a BFN because everything sounded behind, and she wound up with a BFP. So who knows? Sometimes the doctors don't really know-I sometimes think they give people higher rates of success.
IVF # 1 ~ Antagonist ~ ER 1/27/11~ ET 1/30/11 ~ + HPT 7dp3dt
DD born med-free on 10/24/11
Oh V.....they don"t know what the hell they are talking about with MFI, IMO. I am convinced. We started IVF when I was 37 with known SEVERE MFI. I had decent eggs back then but everyone kept blaming my eggs. Cornell was the only place we went that investigated DH's issues and believed that was our problem. Now my eggs are worthless and we wasted 3 years. We could have been doing PGD with what we know or DS. Now it's too late and we have to try DE + DS. Fact is...ICSI just doesn't work for everyone. DH and I are examples of that.
What you are going through sucks and I am mad for you. We're here for you. (huge hugs)
