False Alarms

Since I tested positive for Group B strep, my doctor said that it was really important to come in immediately if I thought my water broke.  Well, yesterday I was having a lot of weird gushes of liquid, especially when I stood up from sitting.  I called the doctor around 4:30 pm to see if they thought it was AF, just to make sure.  They asked me a bunch of questions and said they thought it sounded like it might be and they wanted me to come in to L&D to be checked.  Well, it turned out not to be AF, which means it was either discharge or pee - either way, kind of embarrassing, especially because my DH had called both of his parents to tell them we were headed to the hospital.

How many of you have had false alarms with either this baby or previous babies?

Re: False Alarms

  • I had that happen to me LAST NIGHT actually...got up to pee, and noticed I was still dripping basically. Every time I got up, more would come out and I wasn't pushing. It happened a few times, so I freaked out. I finally used the TP to smell and it was urine. I know, that's really gross. But I was so upset. I was really hoping that was it!

  • At my last appointment, I told my dr about an episode that I had where I heard a weird squeak noise out of my belly, and then had a gush of fluid come out, and thought it might be AF.  She basically said that it wouldn't stop once it started, and that at this stage, everything seems like real labor because we're hyper-alert to it.  She tried hard not to make me feel like an idiot, but I still did!  Also, a few nights ago after some sexy time with DH, our bed was covered in a huge wet spot.  Pretty sure I've just lost the bladder control I once had--REALLY sexy.  Embarrassed

  • A few times, yes. And I'm beginning to think today was one too. Doc stripped the membranes, contractions got to 4-6 minutes apart (had been 8-10 for 12 hours)... then I went to get ready to go and they seem to have tapered off...

  • I thought I was leaking fluid wioth DS and we had to go into the hospital at 2am to check since I was GB+. It turned out that it was just pee. I wasn;t leaking but kept feeling like I had to pee and clear fluid was coming out. I ended up having a UTI and that is why I had to go to the bathroom like 7 times in an hour.

This past satur I was contraction every 7-8 mins and then when I went to lay down to try to rest for a bit they stopped. I was soo annoyed.

  • I have so many BH, and they have become so painful over the last few days, that I have no idea how I'll know when I'm in labor unless my water breaks.  My doctor had me come in today after I called the nurse to ask her a question about timing (basically, when they're supposed to be a minute long for the 5-1-1 rule, do you time just the painful part, or do you start when you feel it coming on).  She confirmed that they are still BH, not doing anything to my cervix and wants me to take Benadryl or Tylenol PM to try to get some rest. If it continues like this, she suggested inducing before the weekend.
