If you work, when do you exercise? I have been saying for weeks now I want to start p90x, but I just can't seem to find the time to do it! DD is up at 5 am every day (4:40 this morning ), I work all day and have no time to go to the gym or anything during the day, pick up DD, get her home around 5:30, fed, make our dinner, eat, put DD to bed, and it's 8pm. By that time I'm winding down to go to bed at 9 b/c I'm up all night with DD again now, and back up at 5am for the day. I may seriously have to bite the bullet and go to bed a little later and work out after I get her to bed, but I'm already pooped all day from not getting sleep.
Re: When do you exercise?
Were you able to keep LO occupied while you worked out. This is what I'm worried about. DH and I both want to do p90x together, but I'm afraid DD will just be underfoot and we won't be able to.
I wish I could do that. My schedule is usually pretty wonky depending on when my classes are, I don't get scheduled breaks. Especially when it's nice out I wish I could walk around campus or go to the fitness center (which is a zillion times better than when I went to college and has anything you could ever want).
Since I was only doing less than 30 min. usually, we occupied him with tv in our bedroom or in the playroom. Occassionally he would get in my way, but not too often. DH would also entertain him and then we'd switch and he'd workout
It might be more difficult with the p90x b/c I am not sure how long those workouts are.
When DS was that age, I took a pilates class twice a week in the evenings and that was my "me time." I was not working full time, though, at the time (only part time). I'm not sure I could manage that now that I work full time. My DS is at a great age and I do 30 mins of Zumba on the PS3 with Niko
in the evening. He loves it and it makes me sweat.
I can identify with your schedule, though...DS is up at 6:30 each morning, I get ready for work, take him to school, then I get home around 4:30 and DH doesn't get home until 7pm so it is hard to fit it in. Good luck!
That is what I had hoped to do Rachel, but I took on extra stuff at work and now I"m absolutely swamped. I leave at 4:30 or 4:45, and get home with DD about 5:30. Next quarter is actually going to be worse because of the courses I teach, and they asked me today to take on even more work.
ETA: The only encouraging thing though is my new doctor didn't even bat an eye at my weight and said to work on sleep first. Just another reason to love her.
I want to go to your doctor!
I make a meal plan at the beginning of the week. I plan meals that allow me to work out before dinner. On a couple nights a week, I plan something that he can make, takes an hour in the oven (ie a pasta bake, chicken and baked potatoes), goes in the crockpot, or we are eating leftovers. This way, I don't feel rushed to find and start dinner instead of going to the gym before we eat.
I totally get what you're saying. It sucks, doesn't it?
When C and I did P90X together we just waited until after Charlie went to bed. Yes, that meant we were working out at 8:00 at night, but we had each other for motivation.
With the whole running thing these days I run as soon as I get home from work for short runs and wait until after Charlie goes to bed for long runs.
I definitely hear you on not getting up any earlier. I don't think I possibly could. Good luck! The only other thing to consider is that your energy level will go up after you work out regularly for a few weeks. You'll feel better about everything.

This is why I really want to get my butt moving. I know I will feel so much better, and working out was always great stress relief for me (which is why I want to do p90x since it's more intense). I just gotta figure out how to fit it in somewhere? Why can't there be just a couple more hours to the day???
