SIL is the biggest idiot on the face of the earth (long vent)

I had a phone convo with my SIL on Saturday night that really upset me and put me into a funk for the rest of the night. She?s so self-centered, a major drama queen, pathological liar and DH doesn?t even really have a relationship with her because of these reasons. She calls me every few weeks and on Saturday night was in prime form (likely drunk and popping pills. While her kids were in bed). She starts talking about what I?m going through (1 m/c, 1 d&C and recent news that I have a balanced translocation) and says her friend has a balanced translocation too (lie) and what I need to do is go on bed rest and keep my feet up and that pregnancy will stay. Wow, well really I wish it was that easy because believe me I?d quit my job and do that if it meant I?d have a healthy baby! Then she proceeded to tell me how I can?t keep putting my body through the trauma of any more d&C?s. At that point I hung up on her, waited a few seconds and sent her a text that said ?phone dead. Charging now, can?t talk.? She tried to call me back 2 more times that night and I didn?t answer. I can usually brush off things she says because she?s such an idiot but for some reason it just really rubbed me the wrong way. I felt like it belittled what I?m going through and what I?m actually facing and that really hurt. DH was furious and wanted to tell her off but I really don?t want any drama because that will end up being more stressful for me. So my new plan is to stop answering her calls. It?s not like me to not return phone calls but with her I?m going to have to do that unless I?m prepared to deal with her self-centered crap, which I have no desire to do.

Okay end of vent and putting this behind me now?.

I am so sorry hun. That's just so insensitive and since when did she become an expert on your medical care?!?! I don't blame you for avoiding her right now. I've found that part of taking care of myself after my losses has been avoiding people like this. (((bigs hugs)))

Trust me, I open ALL SIL posts that contain the words idiot, moron, biotch, etc! I feel your pain, if you know what I mean.

I think you are entitled to avoid any and all calls if that's how you feel right now. You need to put yourself first, physically and emotionally, even if it means not speaking to someone who is going to subject you to that kind of hurt.

I am angry at her for you. Don't listen to a thing she says... after all, this a woman who is drinking and popping pills?!!! With kids in the house??!!!!!! omg, is all I can say.

Seriously?! You just need to put your feet up and lay in bed and you'll stay pregnant! Someone alert the AMA and tell the docs that they got it all wrong. I don't know if your SIL was intending to be comforting or what - but she clearly has no idea what she's talking about. I am very sorry she's an idiot and that she upset you. ((BIG HUGS))

Definitely screen her calls. She has no right to say any of that to you. No one but your Dr has the right to tell you about your body and what it can and can't take. F her! No one has walked in our shoes. Everyone's situation is different, what we need is people to listen when we need them too b/c we sure do alot of listening to others and it would be great to have the kindness returned. And we need to be supported, what we want we have to really really work for and none of us will ever take it for granted or be glib enough to belittle another woman.
