So i just found out I was pregnant with #1. I have always used St. Vincents for my yearlys but I want to switch to Brookwood for OB since they offer the birthing tubs. I have no clue about the doctors there. I would prefer a female because that is what I am used to but I guess I am open to a male. I am just looking for someone who is more open to a natural birth and of course, kind and supportive. Thank you!!!
Re: What OB to choose at Brookwood?
I use McKenzie at OBGYN South. I had to rotate between all the doctors while I was pregnant, so I met all of the drs in that office. Dr. Campbell is a woman, and she is AWESOME! She was due a week before me so I didn't get to see her very much, but she's hilarious and she really made me feel better about alot of the questions I had.
I have to say though, that I love all the drs at OBGYN South. They're on the 4th floor at Brookwood, and I trust every single one of them. McKenzie has been such a huge blessing to my husband and me, as we went through some hard times before getting pregnant with our son. Radbill actually delivered our son though, and while I had a hard labor, he was incredible. I seriously can't say enough about these doctors.
Almost forgot- I didn't have a natural birth, although I probably could have since I was 7cm before I got an epidural. But they are all open and supportive to whatever birth plan you choose.
I'm not sure if they all do water birthing or not- but I'm sure if you call the office they'll tell you.
One of my really good friends met with her one time and found a new doctor after the first visit. She took a home test that came out positive and went to see her. They did blood work on 01/26 and to this day, she still hasn't called my friend back to give her the results OR confirm her pregnancy. Oh yeah, she's 8 weeks pregnant by the way.
Stay away, far away, from Temeka Roberts.

I see Dr. Ross at OBGYN south and LOVE their practice!!
ETA: I had a less than positive experience with Sparks at Sparks & Favor. I know people who love some of the doctors in that practice, but I was NOT happy!
ETA again!: I also forgot to add that I'm interested in NUBC and waterbirth, and when I mentioned it to Dr. Ross he said that their practice has done a large number of the waterbirths at Brookwood. They are VERY natural friendly, at least what I've found so far -- Dr. Ross has encouraged me to go ahead and start thinking about my birth plan, suggested methods of NUBC, and was very excited about the whole thing.
Funny you wrote that...I was at another one of the OBs in that same practice during my college years and had a not-so-great experience as well. But I have a million friends {okay, so not really 1,000,000...} who see Dr Gregory and can't stop raving about her. But even now, I wouldn't touch the practice with a 10-ft pole due to the lack of care I received.

Same here. I could write a novel on everything that happened with them before I got pregnant, and I wasn't happy with my OB care at ALL.
