Working!?!

How are any of you women still working!? I am and I?ve done nothing but cry like a freakin? wussbag since I showed up at work 15mins late due to wardrobe malfunctions this morning. I?m going to try and make it through the day but not sure of the rest of the week. My original plan was to work til Friday and then start my leave and now I?m not so sure that?s best for my mental health. Ugh, am I the only one who feels like a wreck!?

Re: Working!?!

  • I'm still working...and miserable. I've been contracting about every 15 minutes since Friday AM. I hurt so bad. I can't eat, I can't sleep....come on baby!

  • I plan on working until I am 39 weeks.  I decided that I needed a week off before my EDD - I know that I could go past my due date, but I'll take advantage of those extra days off by resting.  I think you need to do what's best for you and take care of your mental health!

  • I am officially overdue today and still working.  I don't feel like a wreck, though, just impatient and in a little pain.  I will probably work from home tomorrow so the maid can come and then on Wedneday maybe just because, and Thursday I am calling in a personal day.  My induction is Thursday night and my leave will officially start Friday morning, unless HR gets confused by my call on Thursday.  Where I work I'd have to get a note from my OB to start my leave early.  Hang in there!

  • I'm still working but thankfully this is my last week to go. I know for my mental health I can't work anymore than this week. Too much stress.
  • I am still working and plan to work until it's no longer possible. At this point I'm just uncomfortable and irritable. I'm sure it will get worse as the weeks carry on.

  • I'm working from home starting today until she arrives, and I'm so thankful that my boss is ok with it.  I told a little white lie...that I can no longer fit comfortably behind the wheel of my car, and he was totally understanding!  Sitting with my laptop in my recliner with my feet propped up and a bathroom only 10 waddles away is awesome!

  • I am still working and HATING every minute of it. I'm so uncomfortable, I'm tired, irritable, and my boss is a PITA which isn't making this any easier. I am set to only work until this Friday and then I am DONE.

  • I was due on a Tues with DS and I had planned to work up to the Friday before my due date. Ironically it was Labor day Weekend so I had the following Monday off anyway, but I ended up having DS on my last day of work. That last week was rough though. I ended up just wearing my jeans and sneakers to work since that was the only thing that was left in my closet tha was comfy. Luckily my office had a casual dress code. RIght now I am a SAH until Sept when I plan to go back to work. Need to find a job first though.

  • I'm still working but am so glad I took a personal day today, last week I was miserable enough, I can't imagine being there today. If I haven't had a baby and am not in the hospital by tomorrow though, I will be back at the office. Sad

  • I still have just under 3 weeks to go and I'm still working. I'm due 2/26 but I scheduled my last day of work to be 3/4/11...I know, craziness. I'm a nurse so I'm hoping that all the walking I'll be doing will help ease the baby into position.  But let me tell you, it's no walk in the park.

     Hang in there ladies!

  • I am still working. My very nice boss has let me work from home 2-3 days per week which has really helped. I don't mind too much going into work, but when I do I am so exhausted by 3pm that finishing the day becomes too much. And I don't sleep at night so my days are even more tiring.

  • I'm still working and plan to until I have this baby! I'm exhausted everday from getting 3-4 hours of broken sleep and my hips feel like they are splitting apart and I feel sick to my stomach 24/7. But I want as much time at home with my LO so I'm not going to waste anytime sitting at home with no baby. It's not easy, but I know I'll be able to make it!

  • This post couldn't have come at a better time. I am working from home today and am considering making today my last day.Originally I had planned to work until Friday, but I'm done. I'm so achy/sore, exhausted and ready to focus on LO. I have my last doc appt today before my scheduled C-section next week so I am eager to see if I've made any progress (zero last week). The docs did not think I would even make it to 35 wks since I have a bicornuate uterus, and my boss has been fully aware that I could go at any time, yet today when told her my thoughts she was a complete b*tch about the whole thing. My projects are taken care of and we have plenty of staff. Just make me that much happier that I'm going to take an extra few days for myself before LO's arrive to transition my mind away from work!
  • I'm still working. I'm working until next Friday. I try on all my clothes the night before to make sure everything is still covered. I also take it slow, have lots of snacks around me and got a drs note to wear comfy shoes.

  • Wow, ladies. I?m really sorry to say that I?m glad I?m not the only one. I wish us all the comfort we need and deserve and just remember that all this pain is worth it in the end, (or so my SO keeps telling me). I think I will be making today my last day though. I have some vacation that will be hitting  before my leave ends so I will just use a week of that to have extra time with LO since they only give that stupid 6 weeks now. Psh.

This for me.  It's 78 degrees in my office and that's not helping my cankle situation, nor is it conducive to a sunny disposition.  I still go to the gym 3 times a week, so I'm not quite ready to start giving things up yet.

  • Me too! It is seriously a test of will to get up, get dressed, put on make-up and go spend 8 hours....the feet swelling is terrible. If our septic tank hadn't just needed to be replaced, I would have taken off sooner. I know DH is grateful for the income, but I seriously feel like I deserve an award!

  • I'll be working as long as possible until this baby arrives, so potentially another 2.5 weeks, and then I'm quitting to be a SAHM. I'm getting slightly more uncomfortable, but still feel pretty good, so I can't really complain although getting up and coming to work is harder and harder every day. I'm more just anxious to have this baby in my arms already!!!

  • I'm working until this Friday (38w3d). I originally planned to work until I went into labor, but I'm seeing how completely unrealistic that is for me at this point. I just don't have the energy to both work and keep up with cleaning/laundry/grocery shopping etc since becoming as big as a house. Carrying laundry up and down stairs is like running a marathon, which is completely frustrating to me because I'm used to being so active. Everything gives me contractions and I feel like a freakin invalid.

DH isn't able to be much help because he's basically working two jobs, and I absolutely dread the thought of coming home to a mess of a house with our new baby. I'm also looking forward to having a bit of time before our LO arrives to just RELAX and take a few days for myself.. nap if I want to.. get my hair done.. get a mani/pedi.. get into a nice relaxing mood before all the fun really starts!

  • I asked for and got a doctor's note today so I could stop working! I had scheduled my last day for Friday, but really wanted to savor some alone/slug time before my life changes forever. My bosses are awesome and didn't even blink an eye. I'm a special education coordinator and I wasn't doing the kids any justice- I was maybe the least fun therapist EVER.

  • My last day was Friday (I was 38w 5d). I debated for awhile about whether this week off before EDD was a good idea. So far I'm glad to have time to relax! I'm just going to try to have a balance of relaxing and keeping myself busy with a few fun activities (hair appt, nail appt, lunch with DH) so I don't obsess about when LO is coming.

  • I worked up till labor started with both pregnancies.  Luckily my kids come early; DD arrived at 38w 0d and DS arrived at 36w 4d.  Sorry that you are so uncomfortable.

  • 2 kids, 37 weeks pregnant with #3, sick with a cold, worked 6 days last week= one tired pregnant lady. I'm scheduled to be at work this and next week, but mentally I am just done. I just keep saying to myself 7 more days, I can do 7 more days. I hope it works better than it did for me today. I left an hour early, and I may do it again tomorrow.
