  • A cold shouldn't affect how your body processes glucose at all.  You may not feel like going, but the test results should be fine if you do.

Ditto. I can't see how it would make a difference, aside from you feeling extra crappy.

  • I would reschedule.  Active infections screw with the results.

Husband has cystic fibrosis. I'm a carrier. We did TESE, IVF, ICSI, and PGD. After two failed IVFs, we were blessed with our twins.

  • (Nurse here) It depends how bad your cold is and what exactly is going on.  Personally, if you are feeling pretty ill, I would absolutely reschedule.  Infections and stress states in your body can drastically affect your blood glucose control.  I work in an ICU so it's more extreme, but tons of my patients (who are diabetics) end up on insulin during their ICU stay because their disease/surgery/trauma has stressed their body's ability to regulate glucose properly.

You may fail if you are sick and took it this week, than if you just wait a week.  Of course, insulin secretion is not affected in everyone during times of illness, but it could alter your results.  If you want to be sure of your results...just reschedule for a week later.

  • Mine is in a few hours and I can say I have a terrible cold. They told me it wont make a difference (in fact the doc said it might help the drink not taste so bad.)
