Babies: 3 - 6 Months

if you do the EASY method

how does your baby not spit up during the "activity" part? bay has to be lying down flat for at least 30-45 minutes after eating or else it will all come back up [and even then it does sometimes because she keeps moving around]. sometimes it still does even after that long when i pick her up.

what should i do?

  • He spits up all the time, moving or not! I just keep burp rags everywhere and make sure he has a bib on!

  • After a baby eats they should be at a reclined position or sitting up, I thought lying flat caused spit up issues? If your baby spits up that long after a feeding it could be reflux or an issue w/their type of formula. My DD spit up with both BM or formula and everytime I got her in the carseat she'd puke up everything! The pedi said it was reflux, she was on Zantac for about a month and has grown out of it.
I would suggest making sure baby burps well ( I try for 2 burps) and sit her up for a bit before lying her down for an extended period of time. GL
  • They say 4 months is the peak of spitting up.  So it looks like your LO is in the thick of it.  It will get better, just keep burp clothes handy!
  • She spits up like crazy so I just put a bib on her :)

    Oh my, it gets worse?!

My friend's baby did this for 9 months. I'm just hoping he gets past this in another month or 2. It's a pain to deal with! But he's happy so I'm glad it doesn't bother him.

  • I am pretty sure she regards anything stimulating as activity.  You can read to LO and hold him and play with a stuffed animal or something.

  • That's odd - DS usually spits up more when he is on his back after eating. Have you tried sitting her up after eating? I think that's supposed to help the food go down.

My DD peaked at 3 months and is now getting better so, it's just an estimate :)

yes. my doctor told me to do that at first and every time i did it, she would spit up. when i nurse her lying down in the middle of the night, there is no spitting up, so it didn't take long for me to realize that was the issue.

she never really did it that much until about a month ago and it definitely is worse now because she constantly wants to stand up and move around. i'm hoping this is the peak and it will get better soon!

i'll just try to feed her when she wakes up and play with her lying down for a little bit before getting up. i also need to try burping her because i usually don't and that might help.

    thanks for all your help!
