I called my OB office today because last night and this morning I was feeling what felt like menstrual-like cramps that wouldn't go away. As I have risk of pre-term labor due to fibroids, I wasn't sure if this was a symptom or just something normal to expect with the pregnancy. The on-call OB told me to go to L&D to get checked out, just in case.
Looks like everything is okay -- they hooked me up to a fetal heartbeat monitor and something that could measure contractions, and baby's heart rate was fine, and no contractions were detected. Cervical check showed no signs of dilation or anything.
Conclusion: probably round ligament pain --- whew! But it also could be the fibroids irritating things. They sent me home with instructions to watch for worsening symptoms, and to take it easy tonight.
I go to see my high-risk OBs on Tuesday for a growth ultrasound (to check the baby and the fibroids), so I'm glad to have that appointment set up.
Really not ready for this baby to come out this soon... just hit 24 weeks so it's great to feel viable, but that doesn't mean I'm ready to deliver -- yikes!

I have had the same problem for weeks now. I have 2 fibroids (one baseball-sized) and they cause menstrual-like cramps on and off. Any time I have a particularly worrisome episode I call my doctor but so far everything has checked out.
My high-risk dr says that fibroids will on and off lose some blood supply (since the babies are using it all up!) and it will cause the fibroid to degenerate a bit. This causes the type of cramping I've been getting.
