Mother Nature's joke on me

LO turns 7 weeks today, but I'm the one who received the "present."  Went I went to the bathroom this morning, I was given all the signs that I would be getting my first period since March of last year.  Not cool.  At my 6 week appointment, my dr assured me that since I was EBF I wouldn't have to worry about Aunt Flo until I started to ween.  Is this common?  Or am I an exception to the rule?  Or could it be something more serious?

Re: Mother Nature's joke on me

  • Some women get their periods anyway... hence, BFing- not effective birth control like once thought.

I'm getting Mirena placed at 8 weeks.  Hopefully that will put AF in her place for good!

  • I am surprised your doctor told you that! Mine constantly stresses the fact that, even though I am EBF, I could get my period as soon as 3 weeks pp. You just never know when she will show up.

On average, women who EBF don't get their periods for 6 months. But that is just an average.

So far, mine hasn't decided to show up yet. (I have no idea if or when it did with DS, since I had a Mirena and a lot of issues with it)

  • I'm surprised your doc said that too. From what I've heard, it can come back anytime- you just never know!
