Poll: Sleeping In

f/u to lelekay's response on the poll from below about sleeping in, I thought, let's have a poll on sleeping in! esp since sleep is generally one of the top things on our minds as parents, right? =)

We're talking about right now, ATM...not what it was like in college (I remember I'd sleep until 6pm almost daily in college and miss all my classes =P but those days are long long gone!).

What time do you usually wake up on the week/workdays?

What time do you usually wake up on weekend/non-workdays?

What is your idea of sleeping in?

What time do you usually wake up on weekend/non-workdays? 11am

  • Before baby I slept A TON. I was never a morning person, so I'm actually happy that I'm better about that now.

What time do you usually wake up on the week/workdays? 7 am... it was more like 5 am until A was about 7 months, though

What time do you usually wake up on weekend/non-workdays? if we're lucky, 8 am on the weekends

What is your idea of sleeping in?  I would just about die of happiness if I got to sleep uninterrupted until 9 am. My birthday's coming up, so maybe I'll get my wish!

  • What time do you usually wake up on the week/workdays? 7am. Sometimes 7.15am if it's was a late night and the boys let us sleep past 7am, which is rare.

What time do you usually wake up on weekend/non-workdays? Still 7am. My dudes have a built in alarm clock, and when they're up, we're up.

What is your idea of sleeping in? These days? 8am. Stick out tongue Seriously, it's my DREAM to sleep in until 8.30 or maybe even *gasp!* 9am. I asked Ben if he wanted to do a thing like Malia and her DH do where only one person gets up with the baby in the morning and the other one gets to sleep in, but he wasn't really interested and I can understand. Getting both boys up and ready and fed by yourself is time consuming and occasionally stressful.

As things stand now, I don't think I'll get a sleep in until they're about 15. Hopefully they'll be sleepy teens lol!

  • What time do you usually wake up on the week/workdays? LB usually wakes up sometime b/t 7:45-8:15.  Since he's in our bed and can't sleep if we get up without him, I stay there and he usually wakes me up.

What time do you usually wake up on weekend/non-workdays?  About the same time.  sometimes I can get him to play in bed until 8:30 or 9 though.

What is your idea of sleeping in?   Since bedtime is variable, wake time is too.  One night he didn't go to sleep until after 1am (last week, ugh!), so he didn't wake up until 9:30, which was cool (except that it was a work day ACK!).. so maybe 9:30 would be a good answer here.

  • What time do you usually wake up on the week/workdays? usually 7am, sometimes 7:15am.

What time do you usually wake up on weekend/non-workdays? hah. usually, 7:30am. sooooooooooooometimes 8am. I hope this is enough prep for baby!

What is your idea of sleeping in? 9am. I'm a morning person, what can I say...

For morning people - did you still have to change your wake up time for baby?

    How much?

  • What time do you usually wake up on the week/workdays? 5:45am

What time do you usually wake up on weekend/non-workdays? Mason will usually sleep until about 6:30am on the weekends.  So usually only one of us will get up with him or we both will if he got us both good and awake with his screaming.

What is your idea of sleeping in? I'd take 8am that would be a dream.

  • What time do you usually wake up on the week/workdays? 5:40 on M, T, Th, 5:20 on W and F (I have Chorus before school those days)

What time do you usually wake up on weekend/non-workdays? As long as Henry will let me, though these days that's just 5:45 or so.  He used to go back to sleep if I brought him to bed with me, but that hasn't been working lately Crying

What is your idea of sleeping in? I'd love 8:00.  Even 7:30 would be awesome these days!  Before baby it was still only about 8:30-9:00am on weekends.  I hate to waste the day!

For morning people - did you still have to change your wake up time for baby?

absolutely...i don't know that I would call myself a morning person but I would wake up around 8 or 9 on the weekends (naturally with no alarm) before baby.  Now I wake up when LO wakes up.  Since LO was born, I dont think I have woke up once on my own.  And on weekdays, I have to feed and get LO ready so I have to wake up much earlier anyway just to get that done than if it was just me.

What time do you usually wake up on the week/workdays? alarm set for 5:15...If LO is still sleeping, I will snooze until 5:30.  But i think that has happened twice!

What time do you usually wake up on weekend/non-workdays? LO still wakes up around 5 - 5:30, but I feed her and then we all go back to sleep (if I am lucky!)  then we will all get up maybe around 8 - 8:30 (and it is awesome!)

What is your idea of sleeping in? Wait...What is sleeping in?  I don't even remember what that means anymore! Stick out tongue  Maybe around 9?  I would just like a solid 8 hour stretch & I am 110% sure I haven't had that since LO arrived

  • What time do you usually wake up on the week/workdays?

Alarm is set for 5 a.m. but sadly Libby usually wakes me up before the alarm. So I am up around 4-4:30 a.m. I work from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. M-F.

What time do you usually wake up on weekend/non-workdays?

6:30-7 a.m. if Libby hasn't woken us up then it's the damn cat!

What is your idea of sleeping in?

I'd love to be able to sleep-in until 8 or 9 a.m. on at least one weekend morning.

  • What time do you usually wake up on the week/workdays?

between 7-7:15am typically - basically whenever Miss A wakes up :) she usually gets up about 7am and occasionally if I leave her in the crib she'll go back to sleep and sleep another 30-45 min.

What time do you usually wake up on weekend/non-workdays?

it's the same, 7 days a week, for us!

What is your idea of sleeping in?

    pre-baby, sleeping in was 12-2pm

now I consider anything later than 8am on to be sleeping in! LOL

  • What time do you usually wake up on the week/workdays?

for work i wake up at 8:30. i work about 10 minutes from my house, no freeways.

What time do you usually wake up on weekend/non-workdays?

    9:00-9:30

What is your idea of sleeping in?

10 or 11! =) that's pre-pregnancy. 'cause when i became pg, i wake up at 9ish and i'm hungry and want to eat. hahahah

  • What time do you usually wake up on the week/workdays?  6:45, I really should try to get up earlier because it's alway a mad dash to get us all out the door and I haven't left the house with dry hair in forever.  Can't blame it on the baby though - that was my lazy routine long before that. What time do you usually wake up on weekend/non-workdays? 8ish.  Jack can sometimes be convinced to snuggle with us until 9.What is your idea of sleeping in? these days - 9 or 10.  When J spends the night with my parents I don't get up before 10 Ahhhh, college - those were the days!  I wish I could have stayed a student forever!

A was waking up at 5 am from birth until about 7 months. He goes to bed really early, between 6 and 7 pm, so it was a trade off. He's asleep by 7 pm still, but finally snoozes until a reasonable hour -- 7 am now (gotta get up to bring him into our bed around 4 am)... feels like it took him FOREVER though! :-)

Being a morning person will definitely help with adjustment. Lucky you!

We get up about 30 min earlier now, so not a huge amount. We're not morning people though. Stick out tongue

Ha! Not at all. I WISH I could sleep in that late - the boys just don't allow it. How do you manage it?

B doesn't get up until around 9:30am since we still co-sleep from ~4am-9:30am and he just nurses right when he wakes up. So that's when I usually get up for work. Then when I want to sleep in, I just tell MH to take B downstairs to play (MH wakes up way earlier than I do) and then I just sleep in until whenever...except when B needs to nurse--then I just dream-feed him (except I'm the one sleeping, not him =P lol) and then MH whisks him away again...and if I sleep even longer and it's time for B's nap, then MH brings him to me and we nap together...except I'm still sleeping in some more...but we don't do that too often--maybe once a week or so.

MH always says I love my sleep. I think I'm just making up for all those years of lost sleep from college =P
