12 hours of sleep= cosleeping fail!

We had regressed on sleep the past 4 days, he was waking up around 3 and 4 to play for an hour, or two, or three, and then going back down .  He goes down at 6:30 and usually gets up twice to eat before i go to bed at 10.  He will wake up again around 1 a.m -3 a.m. to nurse and I usually bring him to bed with me at this point.  Some nights if he nurses closes to 10 or 11 I bring him to bed with us then.  Well my DH has been going into work around 2 or 3 and we were pretty sure this was waking LO up.  So we decided to try letting him stay in his crib all night.  Well last night he woke up at 3, I nursed him and put him back in his cribSad

He slep until 6:15 without a peep....I LOVE co sleeping, i feel like a crazy woman for being sad that he sleeps better in his crib, aren't I suppose to be thrilled about this?

BTW:  Early bedtimes and doing everything possible to get those naps in have really really helped his sleep!

  • I feel the same way.  It's almost time for us to move DD in her crib (I think she will sleep better for sure) but, I'm not thrilled about it. :(  They grow up too fast!

  • I hear you, we just moved DD into her crib these past 4 days and although we all sleep so much better and she generally wakes up less times (but is harder to get back to sleep sometimes) I miss her! I always take her in to us when she wakes the last time (i.e. after 6.30 today 7am) and today she was just so happy and lying there cooing and smiling. I keep seeing AP related articles that says co-sleeping and STTN is possible but I have given up on that as long as I am nursing. Besides with our tiny queen bed we need space to get good sleep. So no I don't think you are crazy :-)

  • Hi ladies! I see that you guys have moved your LOs into their cribs from co-sleeping. How dis you do it? My LO happily sleeps with us but I know we'd all sleep better if he were in his own bed! I just got him to sleep in his crib for a nap about 2 minutes ago... this is the very first time he has EVER slept in their and I think I just lucked out! Any suggestions?
  • OP, DD sleeps better in her own crib, too. Unfortunately she has yet to realize this. Sad I'm so glad to hear that you're experiencing improvement, though!

We just kept trying. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. If it didn't we just brought her in to bed with us. Right around 9 months we noticed a major change and she started sleeping longer, for both naps and bedtime, in her crib. We still bring her into bed with us when she wakes to eat. These days she takes two naps in her crib and generally sleeps until 2-5am before coming into bed with us. That's a huge improvement for us.
