NBR: Does anyone use H&R Block?

And if so, can you give me a ballpark of what they charge? I know it varies by place/situation, but I'm just looking for an idea. I've had a CPA prepare our taxes for the past few years, but he charges quite a bit and am looking to save some money (but don't want to do it myself). Thanks!

Re: NBR: Does anyone use H&R Block?

  • I used to prep my taxes myself b/f I got remarried, but once got lazy and used the Block. They charged me about $300 and I was happy with the result. My situation was pretty straightforward though.  Now H and I file jointly, and we are using his CPA.

  • We use the H&R Block software for ours. For the deluxe version that we use (LLC Corporation and personal) it was about $80, took me maybe two-ish hours to do and was very straightforward.

  • We use a lawyer in town and between federal and state taxes we pay about $200.

  • between$150-280. Dh got fed up with us paying for them to use basically the same software we'd use to do it ourselves. SO instead, we did it ourselves online and paid $25.
