Anyone make their own wipes?

Jack seems to be super sensitive to them all of the sudden.  He screams every time he gets wiped and his skin looks so raw..almost like a burn,  so I thought I might try my hand at making my own for a while.  I found a lot of methods online, but wanted to see if anyone had any first hand experience?  Thanks!

  • I have but forgot the "recipe."

I know it used paper towels, baby wash, baby oil, water...maybe something else.

You could always buy clothe.  I believe they sell them on the same websites at cloth diapers.

I also didn't use them in response to a rash/burn.  Not sure how it will help.

  • I just use cheap washcloths and water in a spray bottle with a drop of his body wash and a drop of baby oil. We do use regular wipes for poop just because it's easier but there is no reason we couldn't use the cloth ones for that too.

  • We cloth diaper so I also use cloth wipes. For the wipes solution I use 1 1/4 cups of water, 1/4 cup baby oil, 1/4 cup baby soap/wash then a few drops each of lavendar & tea tree oil. It makes about 2 cups of solution so it keeps for a while. I just spray the wipes & keep them in a warmer but you could keep the solution in a sprayer & use it as necessary on either paper or cloth. Good luck!
  • We cloth diaper and use plain Circo brand washcloths with water on them for wipes. We wet them as needed because it's pretty easy to tell if he has pooped and we don't wipe for pee.

Ditto. We cloth diaper and I bought tons of the circo wipes when they were on clearance. We use the wipe solution recipe posted above and keep it in a spray bottle. I just keep the washcloths in one of those school pencil pouches so they're easy to throw in the diaper bag.

  • We use cloth and warm water. Same thing we used in the hospital. If you want something more than water (and sometimes we do especially for poopy ones) we have a spray bottle with water and a squirt of babywash. Works great! And she breaks out if we use disposable wipes too much (we sometimes use them for diarrhea, and when we are out and about).
